Posted October 11, 200816 yr So, who plans to see what promises to pretty much be the Best Film of 2008....? Frankly, this looks absolutely astounding... Based around real events in Naples (so real in fact that the author of the book has had death threats and gone into hiding under armed protection a'la Salman Rushdie style....) under the Camorra Mafia family.. An organisation so brutal that they are responsible for the murders of over 4000 people in 30 years, that's more death and destruction than any criminal or terrorist organisation you can think of, even Al Qaeda would blush at some of the things the Camorra family have done.... The film has five distinctive narratives which come together to put across the notion that crime and corruption is so indemic in Italian culture that it crosses every social strata... So, basically, this is like "Crash" only actually good (I've read the book by the way, and I cannot recommend it highly enough, one of the best books I have EVER read...). This film is gonna make "Romanzo Criminale" just look like a pile of glossy poo frankly, and even though the "The Godfather" and "Goodfellas" are fantastic films, I always got the impression they rather over-romanticized La Cosa Nostra.. "Gomorrah" does the exact opposite, it more illustrates the consequences of the actions of the Mafia and the corruption that it entails upon ordinary people .... If this film is showing in your area, then you simply MUST go.....

Loved how you showed the Best Of Youth the other month and The Consequences of Love is a great film to show for dudes who dont already own the dvd...and i think you should keep up the tradition by getting the rights to this film called Gomorrah as i'll have only have the choice of watching the house bunny or brideshead revisted when i go to the cinema next week  etc etc
