Posted October 16, 200816 yr For those who don't know, in a recent issue of Kerrap! a CD with aload of Iron Maiden covers was released. Now i didn't get it, i only get a copy of Kerrang! after having open brain surgery, but i heard the songs on Youtube. Anyone else heard them? thoughts? 7tQkoK08t7w GgSyiGXiyn8 SNu-0JVMm6o 7wiVooa0oMU zIdgy201Kmw 8mPZ66ch9Hc 1OXD2vq9FAM 0eWjykvaoLo 6iw-htTPzmo AhaeV-aYOLM DjAeZPu6WyY X7rTazYxFtw VZsDrpSMb4I 0A6VSLSk8-4 UH892nG1VS4 Personally the majority of them sucks big hairy cheesey balls. The only one band that did an amazing cover is Machine Head imo.
October 16, 200816 yr Yeah the Machine head one is good but i prefer this cover of Hallowed be thy name: DZpdnB6-5mA
October 17, 200816 yr Hmmm, so now I see that Maiden have become the fashionable band for everyone to rip-off..... The Machine Head one is excellent, but then so is their cover of Metallica's "Battery", both respectful to the original and "owning" it themselves in their own style... Of course Rob Flynn should have an intimate understanding of 80s Metal anyway, considering he was in Thrash acts like Vio-Lence and Forbidden....

Mc Fly to cover Phantom Of The Opera? lol I have trouble with 'getting into' Vio-lence, the riffs and solos are fantastic but the singer's voice is really annoying at times. Favourites from them are 'Calling the Coroner' 'I Proftit' 'World in a World' and 'Liquid Courage'. As for Forbidden i've downloaded most of Twisted Into Form and there's summat about it that should make me like it but i don't as much as i should. Maybe if it had better production..... anyway, Rob had left Forbidden before recording an album. I preffer Machine Head to Vio-lence or Forbidden any day. Burn My Eyes and The Blackening stand tall above any Vio-lence album imo.

But MH's forays into the commercial areas of 'Nu Metal' (esp, "The Burning Red") were just toss on toast as far as I'm concerned.... The first MH album is bloody amazing, and of course "The Blackening" and "Through The Ashes of Empires" are sh!t hot as well....

Why on earth did he cover The Police, as much as i like Machine Head and the song Message In A Bottle, they're two things that don't mix in my eyes. It seemed like a reaction to Korn and other bands doing well so they tried to tap into that instead of doing what they were good at. The first album is amazing, there is only one bad song and that is the Real Eyes, Realize Real Lies. Can't wait to see them again for a thirs time.

Fear Factory fell victim to that one as well.... "Digimortal" was utter PISH..... Esp, coming after "Demanufacture" and "Obsolete"..... FF have never really regained the momentum they had after so blatantly losing it, "Archetype" was pretty good, but their last album was just mainly filler....
