A Roman marble head that looks like Elvis – right down to the quiff – was sold for £24,000 at auction yesterday (42.000 $US).

 

The 13-inch carving, which came from a 2nd century AD sarcophagus, was bought by an unnamed collector at a Bonhams sale in London. Antiquities specialist Georgiana Aitken said: “It bears an uncanny likeness to Elvis. It’s the quiff that does it. It wasn’t a hairstyle of the day as far as I know.”

Guess it was the quiff that made some people think of Elvis, but to me, it's nothing like Elvis at all <_< Elvis was drop dead gorgeous :wub: and this Roman thingy is downright ugly :puke2:

It looks like there's a bit missing from the nose, but even with that it's no dead ringer is it. Now if they found some 2000 year old recordings, that might be quite interesting :D
