http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/XMASGRACELAND.jpg

Fans from all over the world appreciate the effort by EPE to keep Elvis' memory alive. For those lucky enough to visit Graceland during the Christmas Season, there's even more to see...From Friday, November 21, 2008 to Sunday, January 11, 2009, visitors will have the opportunity to view rarely-seen artifacts throughout the tour. Included will be items from Elvis' personal wardrobe collection, home movie footage, guitars from Elvis' personal collection, gifts given to Elvis by friends and family and lots more. Here is a sneak peak at just a few of the items.

Elvis' Personal Wardrobe Collection

Elvis’ sense of personal style and his love of fashion is an important part of who he was and why you can still feel his impact in trends today. Rare items on display for this limited-time only include:

• The shirt worn in “That's the Way It Is” while reading telegrams back stage

• The shirt worn Christmas morning which appears in photos of Elvis, Linda Thompson and Lisa Marie

• The two-piece suits made by IC Costume Company in 1968

• The outfit worn at The Las Vegas Hilton while signing autographs in 1970

Home Movie Footage

Lisa Marie spent many Christmas’ at Graceland opening presents and playing with her toys. Step back in time and experience the holidays with the Presley’s through their home movies including Lisa's first Christmas which was spent, of course, at Graceland.

Vernon's Office

At Graceland, Christmas was a family affair. Not only did his father, Vernon Presley, dress like Santa to entertain the family, he would organize and keep all the gifts and cards sent to Elvis during the holidays in his office. During the holidays this year, on display in Vernon’s office will be an assortment of cards and gifts sent to Elvis by fans through the years.

Guitars from Elvis' Personal Collection

Elvis owned multiple guitars throughout his life and career. Many can be seen in his photographs and films, and now, these famous instruments can be seen at Graceland during the special holiday display which will include:

• 1956 Gibson J200

• White Fender Bass

• Black Gibson J200

• Fender acoustic

Gifts given to Elvis by Friends and Family

Perhaps because he loved giving gifts so often, we don’t hear as much about the gifts given to Elvis. This year, visitors to Graceland will be treated to an assortment of items that were given to Elvis by others. Included will be:

• A cigarette case the plays the song "Surrender", which was the 1st Christmas gift Priscilla gave Elvis here at Graceland

• A portable TV Elvis purchased by Gladys for the Christmas of 1957.

• Bible given to Elvis for Christmas from his entourage

• Black faux fur outfit which was a gift from Priscilla

Xmas decoration in place

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/XMASG.jpg

It's November 17th, and still the Christmas decoration is almost in place in and outside Graceland. This year, the house will have no less than 4 beautifully decorated Christmas trees. While workers are still busy placing the blue lights on the driveway, others have already unpacked the lifesize X-mas statues for the front lawn

Graceland holiday season begins today :cheer:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/hol.jpg

Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis will officially begin the holiday season today with the annual lighting of the traditional lights and decorations on the mansion property. The extensive spectacle includes hundreds of blue lights along the driveway, a life-size Nativity scene, Santa and his sleigh and much more originally displayed at Graceland by Elvis.

Highlighting the activities will be Martina McBride who will be joined by St. Jude child patients to ‘flip the switch’ and officially light the 13.8 acre Graceland Property. Ms. McBride recently finished her participation in an all new holiday CD with Elvis. “Elvis Presley Christmas Duets” features many of today’s biggest country artists, including Carrie Underwood, Gretchen Wilson, Sarah Evans and LeAnn Rimes singing classic Elvis holiday songs with Elvis Presley.

Another holiday treat is the unveiling of the new “Graceland Christmas” painting by renowned artist Thomas Kinkade. Mr. Kinkade will be joining the ceremony and greeting fans.

Marlo and Tony Thomas, children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital founder Danny Thomas, will be in attendance on behalf of St. Jude to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Thanks and Giving campaign. Thanks and Giving is an unprecedented coming together of celebrities, media, retail and corporate partners that asks consumers to “Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not.”

Sirius XM Elvis Radio will present special coverage of the 2008 lighting ceremony LIVE from Graceland. Martina McBride will also guest DJ on Elvis Radio as she shares her unique experience of recording “Blue Christmas” for the Elvis Presley Christmas Duets album with the help of creative audio engineering. The interiors of Graceland mansion will also be decked in Elvis’ Christmas décor for the holiday season and include his traditional red velvet drapes and Presley family Christmas artifacts on display around several trees throughout the home, including the famous Jungle Room.

The public is welcome to attend the free lighting event, and paid tours of Graceland will operate the day of the lighting ceremony from 10AM to 6PM. Others from around the world can enjoy the evening live via the “GracelandCam”..

Graceland Goes Green

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/green.jpg

Six buildings in six cities across the USA will illuminate their structures in bright green to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s ongoing search for cures for cancer and other catastrophic diseases as the hospital kicks off its annual Thanks and Giving campaign. Graceland Plaza in Memphis Tenn., Sears Tower in Chicago, Ill., Brooklyn Borough Hall in Brooklyn, N.Y., One Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Mich., One Financial Plaza in Providence, R.I., LaSalle Tower in Minneapolis, Minn., will light their buildings during the week of November 24.

These buildings are part of an unprecedented coming together of retail and corporate partners, media and celebrities, who are asking everyone to join them in supporting St. Jude’s groundbreaking medical research that benefits children in communities across the country and around the world. St. Jude, one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases, pays for all treatment not covered by insurance, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Eighty-five cents of each dollar received goes to support the research and treatment at St. Jude.

Now in its fifth year, the Thanks and Giving campaign was created by award-winning actress and St. Jude National Outreach Director Marlo Thomas and her siblings, Terre and Tony Thomas, the children of hospital founder Danny Thomas. The campaign encourages customers to “Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not.”

These buildings join a family of celebrities including Jennifer Aniston, Robin Williams, Antonio Banderas and Jason Taylor as well as 57 of the nation’s leading brands and most respected companies and their customers as they help St. Jude to fulfill its mission of saving the lives of children. Some of these buildings are located in cities that are also the corporate headquarters of Thanks and Giving partners AutoZone (Memphis), Dominos (Detroit), Target (Minneapolis) and CVS/pharmacy (Providence), which are returning partners of the campaign.

“How exciting that these landmark buildings will be illuminated to show support of the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign,” says Marlo Thomas. “They will light the skies like beacons of hope reminding people that the holidays are a great time to give back and give to the children of St. Jude who need our help even in these difficult economic times.”

Graceland Plaza in Memphis Tenn., Elvis Presley Enterprises kicked off its holiday lighting program lighting its Christmas tree and other decorations at the famed home and designated an area of the Plaza to light up in Thanks and Giving green through the holiday season. Marlo and Tony Thomas were on hand with Martina McBride, Thomas Kinkade and patients from St. Jude to light the tree as well as other holiday lights on the property Nov 21.
