November 15, 200816 yr I can't stand them - my Mum does love them though. It's just a matter of taste. I love the Terminator fils, the long Kiss, The postman and the Aliens, so it's just style jnot gore really that bothers me.
November 15, 200816 yr I don't mind violence or gore if it's vital for the plot, but I really dislike gratuitous bloodletting. I absolutely detest the "slasher" movies.
November 15, 200816 yr Author I think its like comfort food - some of the old films are somehow nostalgic, Camelot was on today - I recall seeing it at the cinema as a child when it first came out. Daughter laughed at it, and was incredulous when I recalled loving Richard Harris as Auther... I like a good action film, but cant resist the old musicals on a dreary day, snuggled up with a hot drink, Danny Kaye, Bing and Bob Hope..LOL..all watched as a child and feel good stuff. The films my girls watch make my blood run cold..LOL not that I am squeamish, but honestly..Saw and other blood and guts isnt afternoon comfort viewing, they dont like anything thats not gore or horror, cheese they call it all. November 15, 200816 yr It's got to have a story that holds my attention as well as gore and, some of my faves have been really cheesy. It just depends on the film. I'm really not keen on most of the really old ones. I could never just sit down and watch the film or 'Gone With The Wind'
November 15, 200816 yr I liked (and still like) the Burt Lancaster films, the Crimson Pirate and the circus one with Gina Lollobrigia(?) and the trapeze training. The films I don't like are the modern sci-fis, like Star Wars.
November 16, 200816 yr I like the old Star Wars but only watched the first of the new lot. Cute kids lose me every time.
November 16, 200816 yr Songs of praise in l5 mins with aled jones is exploring musical theatre and they have the two runners up from joseph on ,Keith jack from glasgow and craig chalmbers. Chalmbers played joseph on tour but has weak voice, keith jack, however has a good voice nd is very young and is from glasgow.Useless information I know but hey its quiet.
November 16, 200816 yr I looked at that - I know Darius wasn't going to be on but I just had to check. The vids from that are on youtube now.
November 16, 200816 yr I enjoyed it but noticed craig chalmbers who I said had a weak voice didnt sing. However there wasa a fantastic performance from Steve balsamo who sang Gethsemane from Jesus christ super star, apparently he originally appeared as the lead in that show but he was brilliant and I had seen on WOS that he was the best - he put his all into it and had tears running down his face at the end.A difficult song with a lot of range including a lot of falsetto.
November 16, 200816 yr ditto. Not a programme I enjoy watching. The things I do for Darius, lol. At least no one spotted me hiding behind my hymn book.
November 16, 200816 yr But we told everyone you were there. From what the camera showed, the stage looked so small from the top.
November 17, 200816 yr The stage was tiny from where we were sitting. Could hardly see Darius but heard him and it sounded wonderful.
November 17, 200816 yr This is 1 programme that if Darius isn't on it.......its a definatly NO NO for me too!!
November 17, 200816 yr My Mum watched it and loved it. We have a Tv in the lioungs/diner and in the front room so that there's at least two choices.
November 17, 200816 yr I think even a further dose of Songs of Praise, provided D was in it, would be preferable to this dearth of news. Who was it said ''no news is good news'. No way !!!!!!
