November 17, 200816 yr Longing for good news then! Must admit I never watch Songs of Praise either, but Darius was brilliant on it. Sue
November 17, 200816 yr The songs of praise format yesterday was different in that there were a number of solo songs from musicals and the audience participation was mostly being chorus during some of the songs. However what has annoyed me is that yesterdays show was picked up by WOS and they discussed the performances. Was tempted to mention that D had been on last week and supply a link to you tube but didnt know how to.I felt yet again hes missed out on self promotion, it always seems to happen.
November 17, 200816 yr It was because the show was advertised as being from the musicals. Darius' wasn't. It's nothing personal, just one of those things.
November 18, 200816 yr Yes. On there they are fans of theatre and are interested in anything on TV with songs from musicals. The Big Sing is a mass celebration of sung praise, not exactly everyone's cup of tea. For me it was a chance to hear Darius sing something different for him - a traditional chorus like I Need Thee Every Hour. I often watch the big spectacles like the Big Sing, but Songs of Praise itself is a programme I normally watch more by accident than design. My impression is that, however much it may irritate me as a fan, Darius's interest in promotion is tied to projects where he sees the interviews, photoshoots and TV slots as a means to support that project, not to promote Darius Danesh.
November 18, 200816 yr Interesting point, BT. But I suppose to a large extent D has to say more or less what he is told to say by the producers of the current project. Doubtless he is well primed before he goes in front of the cameras.
November 18, 200816 yr I don't think priming has ever had much to do with it. Darius is intelligent and articulate and he always knows what he wants to say and he has enough media savvy to ensure he does, even when the interviewers seem keen on asking the shallowest of questions with little bearing on the project in hand e.g. the inane questions put to him on GMTV.
November 18, 200816 yr I don't think D will ever be anyone's puppet or mouth peice. He throws himself into every interview. I prefer to see him be himself in interview but, he often takes on the air of the person he is playing.

Darius is intelligent and articulate and he always knows what he wants to say and he has enough media savvy to ensure he does. WE know D is intelligent and articulate, but the producers might not. In any case when huge sums of money are at stake, they are going to oversee the publicity very meticulously.
November 19, 200816 yr I don't think they did at all with GWTW. Talking to the cast, it seems that media publicity was left very much to Darius.
November 19, 200816 yr quote - meg -Talking to the cast, it seems that media publicity was left very much to Darius. oh dear is that why we arent getting any news or just even a mention like other actors get.
November 19, 200816 yr It was as if they thought the title and Trevor Nunn would be enough. Darius was running around trying to do what he could.
November 20, 200816 yr Which wasn't all that much, considering they were having him rehearse new bits almost every day.
November 20, 200816 yr The whole thing just seemed so disorganised for such a major production. Darius did his best, but so much more was needed. Sue
November 20, 200816 yr I really felt for him when Jill was ill and couldn't go on the day after the opening night party and Darius was doing pre-scheduled interviews with the press and being called away to work with Savannah (?) and/or deal with other changes. Then the next day, he'd to go on This Morning.
November 20, 200816 yr He puts his heart and soul into things but i think the people he was working with appreciated him.
November 21, 200816 yr He puts his heart and soul into things but i think the people he was working with appreciated him. I'm glad they did. We certainly do. None of them could have worked harder to make the show a success. Sue
November 21, 200816 yr The whole cast were great but Darius, Jill and NaTasha were outstanding even in that company.
November 22, 200816 yr I wonder what Natasha is doing now. Wasn't she doing some singing just after GWTW? She has a wonderful voice and she played Mammy beautifully. I loved the "rustling petticoat" scene with Darius. I'm still hoping that Darius's From A Distance will turn up on a Big Sing Dvd or CD.
