Phone in and ask nicely why you didn't get an interview, and please will they tell you how you can better your CV or application for next time you apply............they are usually very helpful, and if you get a grumpy answer you have lost nothing.
There is usually no where to phone. Staff aren't told and so don't know why selections are made. Internet sites do acknowledge receipt by email but that's it. It's a long time since I needed to apply for a job.
If at first you don't succeed................... Good luck!

It surprises me that so many job-seekers write out one CV and use it for all their applications, instead of slanting it towards

the particular job of the moment.

Most local authorites won't accept CVs and with our authority, it's all based on points scoring - application form - on how well you respond to the competencies on the Job Specification and how well you answer the set questions at interview.

It's tough that you are searching for a job at a time when so many others are also seeking new jobs after being

made redundant through firms closing down or cutting back. But I'm sure you will find something eventually.

Its occurring on December 2nd Spam, so unless you are asking Dr Who I would say no, not yet anyway :D

Oh I would love to go to this. BT I must be worth travelling to see :D Meg, are you sure you can't make the aftershow? I am pretty sure it's being held in the same complex, so not too far to walk :)

Anyone else?

I looked up the phone number to find out whether D will be there, but haven't found time to ring yet.

Meg is offline for a few days, and BT is busy entertaining a visitor, so you may not hear from them immediately.

The pre-concert reception costs £25, the post-concert Champagne Gala is £60, and concert tickets are £50, £40, £25 and £10.

This is in addition to rail fare and overnight accommodation.

Sorry Paul, I won't be going to this.

That's a shame, it would have been nice to catch up Nina :(

So instead of going there and feeling like a Billy no mates, I really am a Billy no mates

Sorry for self pity, it's just that for once an event has fallen perfect for my rota, I wish Darius was going to be there. I might just buy a ticket anyway, then if no-one else is going I can decide whether or not to travel down, book accomadation etc! At least the Passage would get my contribution. I will decide in the next week or so. If anyone can make it, do post here :)

Meg, sorry only just noticed, hope your job search is successful :)

Dave may come to the concert with me. We wouldn't be doing the after show party though.
I'll phone nearer the event to see if D is a late entry.

If D is a late entry, will you be able to make it Bramley?

What price show tickets are you opting for Meg? As I have no interest in classical music, I was thinking of going for the cheapest option, especially if I do decide to buy an aftershow ticket and particularly if I then decide not to travel down. It would be nice to say hello to you two again if I do though :)

My only other concern is will they allow my camera into the aftershow. I have to laugh at some of these concert venues. They stop people from taking in an SLR camera and a 75-300mm lens, but are happy to allow compact cameras with upto 18X(approx 500mm equivalent in some cases) zoom and a video recording capability into the show  If that was the case I would be a very unhappy bunny

Dave does not like parties. He does like classical music though and, like me, appreciates that these young musicians are giving their time free for the charity. Even if Darius was there, with Dave with me, I wouldn't go to the after show as it'd just make Dave unhappy. We'd both like to meet up with you again though.

I like parties where I know and feel comfortable with people and loathe what I call "posh do's" because no matter how smartly I am dressed, I always feel a bit of a scumbag and completely out of place. I put up with this feeling at this type of event because I want the chance to see and chat with D but so late in the day, I can't think he will be making an appearance :(
