October 21, 200816 yr looks like Leon will be the first x factor winner not to get number 1 with his debut album
October 21, 200816 yr In my ongoing quest to turn you, I will point you in the direction of his performance of All In Good Time on This Morning - I actually think his vocals themselves have improved tenfold, as opposed to just 'working' in a recorded sense or whatever. What are the SEVEN covers?! I guess I didn't count 'Dont Call This Love' which I heard was covered so thats six along with Right Now, You Don't Know Me, When You Believe, Misty Blue and A Song For You. It's still miles better than what we were given with Ray.. And I don't get the love for Stargazing.. I hope it grows on me but right now it just seems so... obvious? I'm not at all certain he was singing live. If he was then I apologise - it was good. It just looked like a mimed performance. Norma
October 21, 200816 yr I must admit I did wonder... damn if he was miming, cause he has no reason to, unless it was This Mornings time/equipment constraints :( I thought I'd give him the BOD because he also looked more at ease so I was wondering if the whole X Factor thing was just nerves..
October 21, 200816 yr Actually I remember thinking at the end that it didn't sound mimed, or least not like the CD... maybe an 'as live vocal', I only saw it really briefly at work, I'll watch again later and decide
October 21, 200816 yr well this is all new to him so im sure he still has times performing when he is still very nervous
October 21, 200816 yr Actually I remember thinking at the end that it didn't sound mimed, or least not like the CD... maybe an 'as live vocal', I only saw it really briefly at work, I'll watch again later and decide By the way - I'm not having a pop at him for miming - lots of artists do on these shows mime. However having watched it again I'm quite certain he was, especially given that you appear to hear an entire orchestra when there are only half a dozen musicians there at most. I'm comparing it to an early morning appearance he did last year (TIP had a link to it once but I can't find it) and he was absolutely awful - mind you ... it was REALLY early in the morning. I suppose the only real way to find out if he is a good singer is to go and watch him when he does a tour. Norma Edited October 21, 200816 yr by Norma_Snockers
October 21, 200816 yr also - how can you say he was miming? he was clearly singing live - also he must have been crappin himself goin back onto that show to sign - i know i would be. the backing track was not live but his singing was.

Well if it makes you feel any better ... in my opinion he was miming. Norma
October 21, 200816 yr Well if it makes you feel any better ... in my opinion he was miming. Norma what makes you think that though? he sounded terrible - if he was singing with a pre recorded track he coulda tried a bit better. you could hear the nerves in his voice - and y would simon have his winner on miming it would juts make 12 weeks of singin live for the public pointless?

I think you have crossed wires here I think the other poster was referring to his performance on This Morning which I believe was a live performance whereas you are talking about his XF performance again which was live.

Thanks Prawn! I wasn't talking about the XF performance - he was obviously not miming on that. I'm sure if people watch both back-to-back - the This Morning one is extraordinarily 'smooth'. Norma

Norma ah sorry. i think the this mornign one was smooth but in my opinion he was still live - i think the nerves got him on x factor more because of the pressure.

Yeah the nerves did I heard an interview with him yesterday and he said he was very frustrated as when he gets nervous his mouth dries up and it affects his vocal happens to the best of them Duran Duran were on last year and were absolutely dire. Also just as an aside I was at the studio for his performance and I can tell you the sound for entire show came over on TV alot worse than it did in the studio don't know what was up with that. We also spoke to him before the performance and he did admit to being very nervous.

I know I've given the lad stick ... but apart from the shuffling about - I didn't think his X-Factor performance was that bad - it was off-putting but I thought his vocal was more honest. He's still not Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra ... but neither is Michael Buble! Norma

October 21, 200816 yr It's hideous. I did give it a chance and I can't stand this attempt to be all 'ratpack' and jazzy. I must say when Fannii first put Leon through last year to her final three, I actually thought he had a lot of potential but then he gets marketed as Ray Quinn the II [i don't want to break his body into pieces like I did with that Quinn scab but you get my drift]. The album is ver yweak and he sounds so monotone and bland, I don't really feel any emotion in any of the tracks at all. Let's just pray to god this Eoughn character doesn't win this year or we'll be having this conversation again next year

Got to agree i think people seem to forget he's only 19 and doesn't have anywhere near the level of experience almost every other XF contestant let alone winner has had. Not using that as an excuse but it is a fact personally even though i'm a fan i'm quite shocked at how much I like the album I didn't expect that to be honest. I think its a bit of a slow burn and as more people hear it they will but into it. Personally I don't think Don't Call This Love was the best choice for the first single but who knows many an artists sales peak after the 2nd or 3rd single.
October 21, 200816 yr Could some PM the album? I'm from Brazil and we can't buy music from iTunes, and i'm only gonna buy my album when Westlife's new DVD is available so the delivery is cheaper... Anyone?? Please...
October 22, 200816 yr Norma after listening to his CD version then X Factor performance I'm convinced it was a live vocal - there were a couple of hiccups that wouldn't havent been on there if it was an as live vocal, and the start just doesnt SOUND mimed... we all know the kid can sing, perhaps he just is very good now in a non -nerves situation.. I hope so.
