England aren't really playing TOO bad. Trinidad are just FAR too good at the back. England thrive on the long balls through for Crouch and Owen but at the moment, T&T are defending too well which means England are relying on Joe Cole, Gerrard and Lampard for goals.

I think England played well against Paraguay - who are a superior team than T&T - in difficult weather conditions.

But England have been PATHETIC against T&T in the frst half.

They are not doing the basics of Pass & move for goodness sake.

If it was not for John Terry we would be a goal down.

Now we need to score a goal in the second half of this match, something we have not done in the previous 8 WC matches.

Crouch, Gerrard & Robinson have had a shocking 45mins.

We need more pace & more movement 2nd half. C'MON ENGLAND!

The thing is with Rooney is that T&t will be extremley prepared for Rooney, and will know how to mark him out of the game as well, where as bring Downing, Walcott or Lennon, then I doubt T&T will be as prepared for those players as they would be for Rooney.
Lennon would actually be a great replacement. Joe Cole has already proved how they struggle to deal with fast-paced, skillful wingers.

In my opinion, poor standard from England, I guess the fans wanted Rooney, and they got him, so far he hasn't made an impact, they really need to pull one out of the bag somehow, considering they haven't score in the second half since 1998, I can't see it coming.
Well were playing a lot better at the moment, and Sven has made his tactics a lot more positive as HE personally needs a result or he will get hounded by the media as we were expected to beat them by 4 or 5 goals. ATM I can only see England winning 1-0.
Get In There Crouch!!!, although the goal could have been disallowed as he used the defender as a ladder.

And Gerrard scores YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Great result :cheer: but not a World Cup winning performance again I feel :(

Why Crouch isn't that good -

All he can do is head a ball - honestly. He may have won us the game, but to be honest it was an easy chance.

He missed an easy one on one, tried to be spectacular at least once, when the easy option was something else.

When you desparatly need a goal most would prefer Owen on the pitch. yes, he's not match fit but he won't be without minutes.

I'm not moaning, 2-0 is a good result in the end and we are through - thats all that matters. But Crouch seems to think he's great and he is not - that is all. (and what a goal by Gerrard!)

(I posted on another forum) But a standerd performance was all that was needed, I'm sure we can raise our game

All they need to do is draw or win against Sweden, and they win the group, Sweden can still top the group, depends on the outcome of their match against Paraguay

That sums up Crouch though. He can be an extremley furstraing player. Countless times i've seen him miss sitters for Liverpool, but when he scores all those sitters don't become releavnt anymore as he's scored.

Owen was pretty useless against T&T and I can understand why Sven took him off, as T&T were concentrating on marking him out of the game.

Oh and his goals have come versus Trinidad and Tobago and Jamacia and Hungary. Not proven versus a very good team.

And his dance was funny but not when he plays like that!

Not slating Crouch, just saying.

Oh and that ITV World Cup music is the only thing I prefer about their coverage over the BBC.

Owen has to play - minutes are the answer, and he deserves it with his class. He will be a key player for us - if played.
