February 13, 200916 yr Just saw this on Google's news page. That sounds like one nasty virus. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7887577.stm I checked my PC and I have automatic updates for Windows switched on. I still used the link to check for any further updates and it found me a new one to enable better updating, so I've downloaded and installed it too. Edited February 13, 200916 yr by Baytree
February 14, 200916 yr I've just clicked on a link for a Darius alert about Leona Lewis and there was a Trojan detected.....glad I'm at work and not at home!!
February 14, 200916 yr Thanks for the warning. I think I may have opened it just before you posted. I closed it virtually immediately, because it was obviously full of other unrelated links. After you posted, I updated my anti-virus and then scanned my whole computer. What is a trojan anyway? Something that hides and then attacks I presume, like the story of the Trojan horse myth. Or am I way off beam?
February 17, 200916 yr no you are spot on...it's just like the story...hides within something then strikes when you aren't watching :(
April 13, 200916 yr Author A google alert for Darius Danesh and NataSHA hENSTRIDGE SHOULDN'T BE OPEN AS IT'S DODGY.
June 20, 200916 yr Author I'm back home. The first thing I did once I had my Mum settled was look at my emails. The first one hid a virus. I then spent the next 3hrs trying to get rid of it. Thank goodness for avg. It was another one that pretended to be a warning from internet explorer.
June 21, 200916 yr I'm back home. The first thing I did once I had my Mum settled was look at my emails. The first one hid a virus. I then spent the next 3hrs trying to get rid of it. Thank goodness for avg. It was another one that pretended to be a warning from internet explorer. It's so annoying isn't it. A few weeks ago we opened a message that we thought was from Norton 360 and that was a virus. It took ages to sort out! Sue
June 21, 200916 yr Author I know. they say chocolate is a moment on the lips and an age on the hips. These virus take a click to get and loads of hard work and time to get rid of.
June 21, 200916 yr Author You often don't really. You just know that something coming up and wanting you to click it and it feels wrong. I then close down, restart and run a scan on the whole pc - hopefully that shows the virus which is then dealt with by your anti virus software.
June 22, 200916 yr Author Another warning sent from my brother this time. HUGE VIRUS COMING ! PLEASE READ & FORWARD ! Hi All, I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus! I checked Snopes, and it is for real. Get this E-m ail message sent around to your contacts ASAP. PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS! You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,'regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it. If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classifi ed by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.
