You read it here first - the official X Factor website can exclusively reveal that special guest star Mariah Carey will sing number one single Hero live on stage with the X Factor finalists tomorrow.

 

This historic performance will give The X Factor Finalists' version of Mariah's original 1993 hit her official seal of approval - in a spectacular way.

 

There is no doubt that this will become one of the real must-see moments on British TV.

 

Thanks to the fabulous generosity of you guys out there, Hero is still number one in the charts as Remembrance Sunday approaches.

 

And Mariah will add her voice in support of the single which donates all funds to the joint causes Help for Heroes and The British Legion Poppy Appeal. Both charities support injured British troops.

 

The pressure is on for the contestants who, as well as singing alongside Mariah in this unmissable one-off collaboration, will each choose a track from Mariah's Songbook to perform on the night.

 

Mariah herself will perform twice. As well as singing alongside the contestants on Hero, she will perform her newest release, the single I Stay in Love

As much as I liker her old stuff...she was bad tonight...why was she not moving? was she miming? the song was not great either - such a shame :(

i didnt like mariah's song tonight butas i have alwyas said i much prefer her olde rstuff ....i was laughing the way she plugged emc² and no mention of the ballads and i think its the ballad album that will gain most from x factor

Her mic and everything was turned on. But she wasn't singing very much at all...the backing track is mostly what we heard.

 

The only bits she really sang on "I Stay In Love" were the "na na na na na na na na na" and the last couple of end notes.

 

"Hero" was completely live though.

That performance of Hero didn't sound anything like the album version! :mellow: She just completely changed the melody. I Stay in love wasn't very good either. Ouch :(

i love mariah carey hero but i have to say her perfance on x factor shocked me she sang it very bad! if she was in the show being voted for i would think she would of been in bottom two

The $h!t bits of both Hero and I Stay In Love were indeed Mariah singing live. I'm afraid to say the fantastic notes hit towards the end of both performances were pre-recorded as far as my eyes can see. There were a few key moments in each performance where she's basically barely moving her mouth and some great old note is coming out and it's just not the natural face of someone pulling off really spectacular notes, which lead me to believe it was indeed pre-recorded. Oh Mariah.

 

Either way I hope it benefits her in some way, which i'm sure it will. ^_^

ISIL was not live, except nanana...

 

Hero was totally live till the bridge. The is a mix of live and playback.

I probably got them confused. I was particularly unsure about the performances in general.

it looked mimed in parts but hero was destroyed the way she sang it i even prefer the finalists verion to that version

Awful performances :( You'd think that Mariah Carey of all people would be able to pull off better performances than Laura and Ruth etc. but she didn't :o She completely ruined 'Hero' too. Weird, I always thought stunning vocals were her thing.

Hero was live but ISIL was very clearly mimed with the exception of the nananana bits - shes the most successful woman in music - sing live woman!!!! ur more than capable!!!!!!
