Posted October 31, 200816 yr manufactured pop acts have (rightly) got a bad name. they often epitomise everything bad about pop music, being shallow, cheesy, insipid and adding nothing to british pop music. however sometimes these bland acts can get their act together and evolve into something more credible... what examples can you think of? ill start with the monkees and take that.
October 31, 200816 yr I will go also with TakeThat. From their first time I really liked only Never forget and (very ironic) Babe... . Somehow I hated their image...I hate when artists try to sell their music by giving a very "sexual image". I still think that Madonna is pretty c**p. I only liked her in "Frozen" time, but she turned back to wear something like nothing, showing to much of her body and to less of her musical quality. Such a pity!

Such a pity! i liked madge in varying degrees over the years, i agree that 'frozen' was madge at her maturest and its disturbing now how this surgery-faced freak has lost her dignity. theres nothing worse then an old slapper trying to be young... true greats like kate bush and siouxsie sioux dont do it :)
October 31, 200816 yr its disturbing now how this surgery-faced freak has lost her dignity. theres nothing worse then an old slapper trying to be young... This quote from my ex pretty much sums her current phase up: "Why do you think she doesn't let her kids watch telly?"
October 31, 200816 yr I'm fairly new to Take That so I only appreciate them as they are now and they're pretty good. OK - so they're not the Beatles ... but who is? Having said that - it's only through discovering them this time that I've listened to stuff they did the first time ... and a lot of it is ... bloody good! Pray, Never Forget and Back For Good are three of the best pop tunes from the 90's. I'll pass on Babe as I think that song was pretty much sh/te! But they were by no means a 'c**p' act to begin with. Norma
October 31, 200816 yr Take That have never been good imo. D: Anyway, I'll definitely say Robyn. I never thought Show Me Love was bad by any means, or any of her older albums, but her self-titled 2005/06/07/08 (lulzz) was freaking amazing, and there is no denying that. Pop genius.
November 1, 200816 yr I'll get eaten alive by the pre-$l*t Nelly Furtado fans, but she became OMGAH AMAZING with Loose

Norma maybe not, but they werent taken seriously as they were at first perceived as 'just another boyband', aimed at teenage girls and so were somewhat overlooked/dismissed .... abit like wham!

November 1, 200816 yr maybe not, but they werent taken seriously as they were at first perceived as 'just another boyband', aimed at teenage girls and so were somewhat overlooked/dismissed .... abit like wham! That's a fair comment ... with all the superficial 'boyband' stuff going on ... some of their songs were overlooked - granted some were awful - I Found Heaven and Could It Be Magic were total c**p. Before anyone says it .... its Manilow's piece ... I just hated their version of it, luckily they put things right on the Beautiful World tour and sung this beauty of a song as it should be sung. I liken them a bit to Robert Redford .... in his youth he was never taken seriously as an actor because of his good looks - it was only later when he got all the wrinkles was he recognised for performances in Brubaker and his directorial work in Ordinary People. Not a bad analogy Take That | Robert Redford. Having said that - if Robbie Williams was still with them - I wouldn't give them the time of day! Norma Edited November 1, 200816 yr by Norma_Snockers
November 1, 200816 yr Having said that - if Robbie Williams was still with them - I wouldn't give them the time of day! and on the topic of robbie williams - i suppose you could put in stephen duffy esp since he was originally no doubt making $h!ty 80s synthpop rubbish in bands like duran duran and tin tin and then turned into nick drake....which can only be a good thing... 7Ar9LCIkqOI

This leads me to a joke. What do you call a guy with a one inch willy? Justin What do you call a guy with a half-inch willy? Tintin Norma
