Posted November 1, 200816 yr More than 600,000 Take That tickets have been snapped up in fewer than five hours - making their new tour the fastest-selling in UK history, organisers said. The band's 2009 stadium tour, The Circus - Live, smashed UK box office records, including Michael Jackson's 1987 Bad tour. As previously announced dates sold out, the band added two more - June 23 at Manchester's Old Trafford Cricket Ground and July 5 at London's Wembley Stadium. TAKE That made the record books yesterday with the fastest selling tour in UK history. The 600,000 tickets for their stadium shows next summer sold out in four-and-a-half hours. Internet sites crashed as fans swamped the web. And many camped out overnight in the cold to ensure seeing their heroes. The previous fastest selling shows were Michael Jackson’s Bad tour in 1987. A statement from the band – Gary Barlow, 37, Howard Donald, 40, Mark Owen, 36, and Jason Orange, 38 – said: “We are, once again, totally astounded by the response and amazed at being able to break such records. “We feel very privileged and promise to make it the best show we’ve ever done.” The tour will take in dates at Wembley Stadium, Sunderland’s Stadium Of Light, Manchester’s Old Trafford cricket ground, Glasgow’s Hampden Park and Car-diff’s Millennium Stadium. Tickets went on sale at 9am and were sold out by 1.30pm despite the addition of two extra shows at Wembley and Manchester. Simon Moran, of SJM Concerts, said: “Take That are a one-off phenomenon.”
