Chart commentary - It's a third week at the top for Girls Aloud, easily holding on to the number one position with 'The Promise'. The delay in the physical release of 'Forgive Me' possibly denies Leona Lewis a better chance of toppling the girls, as her single climbs to number two, and just behind, retro track 'I Want More' by Can climbs three places to number three, threatening the number one position themselves. Can are hoping to become the third German act, after Helene Fischer and Luetzenkirchen, to top the chart within six months, and at this stage look favourites to do so. But strong contenders come from Guru Josh, climbing to six with his updated version of 'Infinity', and DJ Ironik, whose Elton John sampling track progresses as high as the top ten.

But the retro feel of the chart continues with two new entries. At eleven, Nottingham dance/trance outfit Crazy P**** are in from nowhere with their 80s tinged title track from their new album, 'Stop Space Return', which will have clubbers dancing as if it's 1985... but from even further back, 1976, The Bellamy Brothers appear at 16, thanks to the epic new Barclaycard TV commercial. Meanwhile, Katy Perry follows up 'I Kissed A Girl' and Alicia Keys and Jack White ride on the James Bond wave, but will either have the momentum to carry them into the top five this time around?

And there's no sign of Simon Cowell's charity Mariah Carey cover, possibly due to a strong resistance to such a bland song from Radio Newtown listeners...
