Since Blueyonder's newsserver is currently kaput, I'm posting this here as a stop-gap until I have access to yk.music.charts again.

Singles

-------

However worthy the cause, I'm never keen to see a charity record at #1 -

IMO it makes a mockery of the charts. The fact that it's an XF/Charity

combination just adds insult to injury...

Given Hero's huge sales, it looks like we'll be stuck with it for at

least 3 weeks though.

New Entries/New Peaks

---------------------

Top 10 : Katy Perry #6, White & Keys #10

Top 20 : none

Top 30 : Kardinall Offishall #21, Akon #23, Adele #26

Top 40 : Pussycat Dolls #36, Miley Cyrus #37, Chris Brown #38

Re-entries T40 : Kings Of Leon (US) #30, MJ (Thriller) #35

New Entries outside the top 40 (plus new peaks) : Cast Of HSM 3 #41,

Script #47, Bellamy Brothers #48, Dido #54! :(, View #57, SFG (IWIWJB)

#63, Anastacia #67! :(,

Re-entries : Ray Parker Jnr (Ghostbusters) #49, Bobby Pickett (MM) #60,

Elbow (ODLT) #70, Take That (RTW) #71, Vampire Weekend (AO) #75

Albums

------

Somewhat unexpectedly, Pink beats Snow Patrol to the top - so Funhouse

becomes her first UK #1 album.

New Entries/New Peaks

---------------------

Top 10 : Snow Patrol #2, Celine Dion #5, Daniel O'Donnell #6, Bloc Party

#8

Top 20 : Saturdays #11, Katie Melua #15, Maria Carey #16, Anastacia #17

T75 late again, so will update tomorrow.

New outside the top 20 : Hayley Westenra #24, Cure #33, Ryan Adams #41,

David Arnold #64, Cradle Of Filth #73

Several notable drops : Kaisers 2-13, Leon Jackson 4-20, Sugababes 8-26

Re-entries : Killers (Saw) #67, Amy W (BtB0 #72

Next Week

---------

Singles

-------

I can't see even Leona Lewis shifting the XF charity single, though she

should be well clear of whoever is #3.

Busy week though.

Top 5 : Leona Lewis (#2), Guru Josh, Kanye West

Top 10 : Alesha Dixon

Top 20 : Kardinal Offishall, Paul Weller, Scooter/Status Quo,

Stereophonics, Adele

Top 30 : Miley Cyrus, Scouting For Girls

Top 40 : Charlatans, Script, Bellamy Brothers

Possible download releases : Beyonce, Lemar, N-Force, Taio Cruz

Any other possibilities?

Albums

------

Razorlight look odds-on for #1, but a number of such 'certainties' have

already come unstuck this autumn...

Top 10 NE : Girls Aloud, Cliff Richard, Enrique Iglesias,

Top 20 NE : Andrea Bocelli,

Others : Chairlift, Elvis, Grace Jones, Paul Weller, Status Quo, ACM

Gospel Choir

I disagree with Razorlight a certainty for number one album, i reckon Girls Aloud will be big competition this week for them due to the success of the single and the good reviews it has had.

Interesting read, vidcapper. Ta. :)

Absolutely agree -re: charity single. Ridiculous -GBP lost their mind to the golden Cow(ell) :nocheer: .

Somehow, I just so wish Leona fans&supporters mobilised and got huge sales so we can wipe that stuff off no.1. I am willing and buying FM. :yahoo:

I am not surprised with P!nk 's album sales. I think she is one of the most talented US imports and deserving of her position (unlike others :P ) .

Hopefully, Sugababes can pick up with a second single release - I think they are one of the best girl groups in pop. Releasing year after year might not have helped.

I've been posting them for years on uk.music.charts - google groups is your friend - in fact here's a search I prepared earlier :) http://preview.tinyurl.com/6mpgrt

Of course, Leona Lewis is also a Cowell product... :)

Well you are quite welcome to add you own commentaries as well, its nice to see other opinions on the charts.

"Any other possibilities?"

Think you've missed out Britney and Christina.

Only because I don't often know at the time I draft my commentary, which songs are out to download the following Monday. I work from the physical new release schedule posted here.

Hence my ass-covering 'Any Other Possibilities' line... :)

Arse-covering is always a wise option :)

Makes it very hard to do these sort of things when download dates get shifted around at a moment's notice, or aren't revealed at all.

There's rumours about that the Guns N' Roses single 'Chinese Democracy' will be available for download in the next couple of weeks. Hard to say whether they'll release a physical single though before the album drops.
