January 6, 200916 yr Apologies for not having been here of late. My computer and my husbands have both been down since last thursday, it has been so frustrating. My son has been trying to sort it out since then and I have just got back on line. I also dont think it a good idea about voting from other sources on here for the same reasons quoted.
January 13, 200916 yr Voting appears to be still in progess, so if anyone hasn't yet voted, please do so quickly.
January 16, 200916 yr just had an email from Seetickets, must be because I have ordered tickets through them before, I get all sorts adcertising acts, but this one has the subject whatsonstage awards, and tells me not to forget to vote and goes on to say they are proud of their own section and lists the best actors in a musical with Dairus at the top of the list, lovely to see his name there and that this email must be going around to many people - keeping his name in the public eye in a positive way so to speak!!
January 16, 200916 yr I think the nominees in that category are very strong, including Darius. It might surprise a few people to see him there if they didn't realise he has been doing theatre. I must actually take a look at my inbox. Did anyone watch Unforgiven, the programme with Suranne Jones, on Monday night? Douglas Hodge who's been nominated as Best Actor in a Musical for La Cage aux Folles was in it too.
January 16, 200916 yr We watched but I didn't realise........was he the husband who lived in the house where the murders took place? I'll look out for him in the next episode.
January 16, 200916 yr Yes, I'm pretty sure that was him. http://tbn1.google.com/images?q=tbn:yM0JWD.../cast/hodge.jpg Edited January 16, 200916 yr by Baytree
January 24, 200916 yr Just had an email to say voting is now closed and the awards ceremony is on February 15th at The Prince Of Wales Theatre. Sue
January 24, 200916 yr Does this mean that Darius will be there then? :D Oooop's sorry, thanx Sue Edited January 24, 200916 yr by darius4me
January 24, 200916 yr Just had an email to say voting is now closed and the awards ceremony is on February 15th at The Prince Of Wales Theatre. Sue Voting is supposed to continue until 31/1 and I hadn't voted yet (I was saving my vote until next week!! :) ) but I've just been over and voted just in case!! Maybe they are just sending that e-mail out to people who had already voted! Has anyone else had an e-mail from WOS suggesting that they vote for 'Jersey Boys' and listing the four categories that the show is nominated in? There are several complaints over on the WOS Forum and Dress Circle saying that it is not very ethical behaviour!! ..... and I certainly agree with them! Anyway.... I hope voting does continue until 31/1 and.... although I do think Jersey Boys will do well..... I hope Darius' votes show the 'powers that be' just how really good he was in GWTW! Julie
January 24, 200916 yr Darius didnt attend the last time he was nominated. Dont understand why, surely it is a means of networking, defnitely a reminder that he is interested enough in being nominated.
January 24, 200916 yr WOS - As voting enters the final stretch for this year’s Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Awards, we’re also getting close to finalising the line-up for the Winners’ Concert. The concert - which is your opportunity to celebrate with us and to congratulate your winners and nominees in person - takes place this year on Sunday 15 February 2009 at the West End’s 1,100-seat Prince of Wales theatre, home of Mamma Mia!. Amongst the names newly confirmed to perform at the Awards Concert are: Niki Evans (pictured), the former X Factor finalist now starring as Mrs Johnstone in Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers; Ramin Karimloo, the current masked man in the West End production of The Phantom of the Opera, who’s also been tipped to star in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s long-awaited sequel to the musical; American diva Kim Criswell, whose myriad credits on both sides of the Atlantic include Side by Side by Sondheim and Anything Goes; Siobhan McCarthy, the original Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia!; and the tenth anniversary company of the Abba musical that’s now an international blockbuster hit on both stage and screen. They join, as previously announced (See News, 9 Dec 2008): Jodie Prenger (just opened in Oliver!) and her former I’d Do Anything competitors Samantha Barks and Sarah Lark; Award NOMINEES Elena Roger (Piaf), Leila Benn Harris (Imagine This), Ryan Molloy and Stephen Ashfield (Jersey Boys); the stars of the UK premiere of Spring Awakening; as well as Suranne Jones, Julie Atherton, Ray Shell, Jimmy Johnston and Jackie Marks.
January 24, 200916 yr Looks like Darius will not be at them this year neither then :( ,like you have already said Preston, thsi would be a Great opportunity for him to mingle with everyone, and make a Great impression on them!
January 26, 200916 yr Been there, done the mingling thing at last year's Oliviers, and then he went out and made them all sit up and take notice of him. There's no pressing need for Darius to be 'seen' in the UK. Unless Darius is back in London for another reason - the album? - I wouldn't expect him to come over for the Wos awards. Anyway, the Oscars are usually mid-Feb and Darius wasn't there with Natasha last year, so he may feel obliged to do that instead.
