Posted November 4, 200816 yr Apparently Pink said tonight at the London gig that tonight will be the last time she performs Dear Mr President because of the election! Thoughts please?
November 5, 200816 yr Well that's quite disappointing but it's understandable as it's obviously targeted at George Bush and he wont be President any more, making the song a bit dated. I'd have liked to hear it live, but that's what I get for not going to her last tour I guess.
November 5, 200816 yr Was thinking exact the same last night, cuz Bush will be gone soon, she won't need to perform it any more!
November 6, 200816 yr Author From today's Scottish Daily Record (UP THE SCOTS! ): PINK says she will never again sing her battle cry Dear Mr President after Barack Obama's election victory yesterday. Her song is a stinging criticism of current president George W Bush and his Republican policies. Lines include: "How do you walk with your head held high? Can you even look me in the eye?" And "What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away? And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?" The American star performed hits from her chart-topping album Funhouse for an intimate crowd of 300 competition winners in London's Cafe de Paris on Tuesday night as the US polls closed. Revealing her fears over the result, she said: "It's election day. Oh God, I'm very, very nervous. "I might be moving. We're going to win and this is the last time that I will be performing Dear Mr President. "The next president is going to be an ***-kicker. The whole world is gonna change or else this will become a really f****d up song." Pink, who has spent the last couple of days in Britain, revealed she had sent in a postal vote - but confessed she was confused by some of the candidates who were running. She said: "I voted. I got my absentee ballot to send to the Supreme Court. "I wasn't really sure about some of the names and went by which names sounded cooler because I don't know any of these people." And she quipped: "I thought - oh, that's a woman, let's tick her - oops, Sarah Palin - oh s**t...Dear Sarah." Pink belted out her own hits, including Who Knew? and So What?, and covers including The Fugees' Killing Me Softly and Gnarls Barkley's Crazy during her set. Looking glamorous in a strapless dress emblazoned with a pop-art image of the Queen, she also sported two blue plasters in the shape of a cross on her right arm. She told the crowd - including VIP guest and X Factor creative director Brian Friedman: "I have a Band Aid on because I think it's really pretty. "I got punched by a bartender or a sharp clown. I feel really cool with it." After the gig, Pink explained to the Razz: "I hurt myself on a sharp object ...but I do like wearing Band Aids." She also revealed that she often forgets her lyrics at gigs, adding: "This is going to be an experiment to see if I can remember the words for once. You guys will know next time to bring cue cards." But she passed with flying colours and even played the guitar live on stage for the first time in her career. Stripping off her jewellery, she said: "This is my first time and I'm so nervous." But, ever the professional, she performed without incident. Pink also spoke of her excitement at coming to Scotland for her forthcoming Funhouse tour. She said: "I'm playing in Glasgow and Aberdeen and I can't wait. "I've never really had a crazy time in Scotland after the shows because I've always been on my best behaviour." We can't wait.
November 6, 200816 yr i read that in the paper this morning :) she should go crazy in Scotland, we'd love it
November 9, 200816 yr I hadn't thought of it, but I guess if Obama steers clear off all of Bush's mistakes there would be no need for anyone to ever hear it again.
November 9, 200816 yr I absoultely love this song, it's a shame it won't be performed anymore. It does make sense though. ^_^
