November 8, 200816 yr Just posted my single review of this on Culturedeluxe this afternoon. The remixes are good but I wasn't too bothered about the cover :( Dream Cars remains a brilliant song though Neon Neon - 'Dream Cars' The act known temporarily as Neon Neon are playing their final shows under that particular moniker and it seems only right to mark the occasion with a final single release. The role of `Dream Cars` on the much-feted `Stainless Style` album is to introduce the listener to the young John DeLorean undergoing the strife of `motor city blues ` as a young employee of the Ford Motor Company lusting equally over the `dream girls in cold cars` and the `cold girls in dream cars`. It remains one of the strongest tracks that Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip have recorded yet, with the emphasis firmly on Rhys` songwriting rather than the Bip kitsch electro sound that has characterised most Neon Neon singles to date. It`s just a shame the radio edit lead version is disappointingly and unnecessarily short. The single release is completed with a simply yet rather uninspiring cover of Young Marble Giants` `Mr Right` sung as a duet by Rhys and Cate Timothy where the flickering flame of interest is snuffed abruptly just as it looked set to breathe. Remixes of the single bring the track the Bip electro element that many may have thought was missing on the `Motor City Mix` while a distinctly tribal `Dream Drums Mix` combines maniacal vocals with menacing dancehall percussion.
