Posted June 10, 200619 yr Virgin Music news Strokes supergroup for Gaye cover Indie favourites The Strokes have teamed up with members of Pearl Jam and Queens Of The Stone Age to record a cover of a Marvin Gaye track, according to reports in the US. The band formed the supergroup for a version of Gaye's 'Mercy Mercy Me', which is set to appear on the B-side of their next single in the US, 'You Only Live Once'. According to the Billboard website, the track will feature two drummers - with Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme joining regular Strokes sticksman Fabrizio Moretti behind the kit. Meanwhile, vocal duties on the track are shared by Strokes singer Julian Casablancas along with Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. A spokesman for The Strokes refused to confirm the collaboration and it is not yet known if the track will appear on the UK version of the single, which is taken from the band's third album 'First Impressions Of Earth'.
