It was brilliant. :yahoo: My head's whirling - can't remember what Will sang or when, all I can say - it was brilliant. :yahoo: :w00t: I'll be more myself tomorrow.

Thanks Chrysalis. Read your post over on D - so pleased you got to see him. Leigh has posted some great pix of Will :P

Forgot to say - it was great meeting up with peeps. It's a pity I couldn't get to the restaurant, but at least I managed the foyer even if I had to phone TT, who was standing almost next to me.

BYM+M's has put up some great pics on D, but I'll let her post them.

Thanks chrysalis, I'm so happy for you, that after all your health problems and worries, you managed to be well

enough to go and see Will perform live again on tour. :friends:

What a brilliant night ....it was lovely to meet you chrysalis :D and to see TT Ros and Brenda again

I am not normally a big fan of Y&I and Grace but wow they were absolutely stunning :w00t:

'You don't know'....what can i say the audience was mesmerized ..at the end he looked like he was struggling to sing because he was crying and the last line of the song came out almost as a whisper because his voice was starting to choke

Aww that's just so sad to read BYM&M's, it must be hard for him when he relates so much, to certain songs that

he's written.

Review: Will Young, Newcastle City Hall

Nov 17 2008 by Gordon Barr, Evening Chronicle

THE last time Will Young played Newcastle it was an elaborate extravaganza with choreographed routines and numerous costume changes.

Last night’s start to the former Pop Idol winner’s UK tour was a much more stripped sown show.

Will Young in the raw and all the better for it.

Here we had proof that reality TV talent shows can produce some class acts and although the tour comes on the back of his new album Let It Go, Will wasn’t so daft as to devote the majority of the evening to it.

In fact, he started proceedings with a clutch of older songs we all know and love him for, with Love The One You’re With deserving special mention.

Will has definitely grown and matured as an artist and appears more comfortable on stage than he has ever done.

There was some great self-deprecating banter with the audience who lapped up his every word, while the connection with his band and backing singers was very evident too. The set was simple, which in turn meant your whole focus was on the songs, musicianship and that very distinctive voice, which held up throughout.

For me, Will’s finest moments to date have been on his Friday’s Child album, and tracks from it, like Your Game, Matter Of Distance, Very Kind and a truly memorable rendition of the title track, were undoubted highlights.

A perfect-pitched Who Am I segued wonderfully into You and I, showcasing the singer’s immense vocal range to full effect.

The newer numbers were well received too, in particular Let It Go’s lead-off single Changes and the forthcoming release Grace, which was a perfect way to lead us into the encore.

Leave Right Now is to Will Young what Angels is to Robbie Williams, and no show would be complete without it.

It was singalong time, as everyone in the hall joined in what most must regard as his finest moment.

Judging from last night’s show, Will has now proved himself as the consummate entertainer.

That was the one I was trying to remember last night, but my mind was in a spin. You could hear a pin drop couldn't you. I sure was mesmerised by it, and I'm sure everyone else was. And I thought I could actually see tears - certainly he was very emotional singing it. Just as he finished there was a very slight pause before rapturous applause, cheers, whistles and screams.

So proud to be a fan of this HUGELY talented man & of the people from the north-east for appreciating his talent. :cheer: Don't think I've witnessed a reception like it & it was certainly deserved. :D :D Great to see such a mixture of ages & couples at the gig. Loved his rapport with the band & the fact that he is now undoubtedlty the front man so confident mastering everything that goes on on stage. Just wish I was joining Ros tonight at Harrogate.

Lovely to see you again BYM+M's & chrysalis. Last night was very special.

Your new camera is working a treat BYM+M's. I especially love this one.

Too true. Often felt the old band although excellent musicians took too much limelight.

Love this post from Ruthie re this evening.

Shirls said I could type up what happened when she rang up the box office this afternoon trying for tickets.

She was told that it was totally sold out AND they had a massive list of reserve people waiting for any returned tickets

Think we could get more gigs next year. :D
