OMG! I was just completely blown away by him in Oxford. What a star the man is. Took some spectacularly rubbish pictures so I'm hoping for a better record in Bristol on Monday - 2nd row :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

If you haven't seen him on this tour yet you are in for a real treat and I'm saying nothing about the trousers :naughty:

Bit late posting but thanks for all the new stuff.

Oxford..... well what can I say. FAB U LOUS. Not been to this theatre before. Very small and just the right place for this gig. The acoustics were spot on. We were on Row C of the circle bang in the centre and directly in front of Will - perfect view because of the rake and the sound was great. Loved all the stuff, even LIAMOD because it just fitted in so well. :P Standouts for me were FC - this was a fantastic arrangement with his new band. It's always been a favourite but that performance was the best. And it was so good to hear Free in it's original form - another favourite that I'm so pleased he's revisiting. His chatter was as usual off-the-wall and he broke his little shaker  Lots of noise and whoops for each song. When he came on he lifted his arms up to encourage everyone to stand. They did in the stalls but it's not so easy in the circle when others don't so I had to dance in my seat instead. His support Honey Rider did a good acoustic set. Supports are ok but I always feel for them with them knowing that we are really only there for Will. They got a good reception but.... :P

Some over on D mourn the loss of his old band but these boys rocked. There are only 5 of them (2 keys, 2 guitars and a small drum kit - but they fit his new songs to a T and whoever re-arranged his old songs did a great job, giving them a a faster tempo and 'harder' edge to them. Great stuff. And his two backing singers blended with his vocals perfectly. He's got a great rapport with them all.

Can't wait to see him again at Brum - my only other date. And the tickets are on their way.... at last... hallelujah!!!!! :yahoo:  :cheer:

I'm saying nothing about the trousers

 My son said he thought he'd come on in his long johns they were that tight.

Editing to say the tickets have just this second come..... together with Grace (purple this time. Loving the theme thing going on) :cheer:

Thanks for your reviews munchkin & Lainey.

It's like a mutual appreciation society isn't it. :D :D Not sure who's enjoying this tour the most Will or his audiences.

Agree with all you say about the band munchkin. Love how they give him a much more youthful rockier sound & I love the harmonies of the two young backing singers.

Cheers for your reviews Lainey and munchkin, I love the band and I love theatre tours, they're so much better and Will's so happy, funny and relaxed and his voice is just awesome to listen to. :yahoo:
I agree Suggy, give me the theatre tours every time. I know the Arena's are a great spectacle but for sheer enjoyment of Will and the music then it has to be the smaller venues for me.
I have just come back from Portsmouth - brilliant concert! There is really nothing to add to the reports from other venues. He told a joke about his grandmother writing him postcards! Only Will!

Glad you had a brilliant time Pearl. He's on fire this tour.

He sure is TT. Thanks for the reviews lainey, munchkin and pearl. Sounds as if he's getting better and better, and he was absolutely brilliant on the first night. :yahoo: Love the theatre tours - stripped down Will. :naughty:

And I must admit to much preferring this band, and thought them excellent. Will needed a rockier band, and a tigher presentation, and with this band (and singers) he has them. I always felt the old band took the forefront too much. I was there to see Will, not to have instrumental solos from each member of the band.

Will Young: An Ipswich legend at 28

http://www.eveningstar.co.uk/content/eveningstar/blogs/images/will-young-5.jpg

RAISE a large glass of Malibu, complete with a slice of pineapple, and toast the amazing musical cocktail that is one Will Young.

Pop Idol 2002 winner Will, 28, is a talisman to millions – and I watched as he showed all his singing prowess as he wowed a sell-out Ipswich crowd of more than 1,600 people.

Will sang and then chatted, teased and then joked, danced and then pranced, his was through a spellbinding 90-minute set, when he confessed of a distant love affair with the coconut liqueur that is Malibu.

He’s left those days behind now – but in six years at the top has delivered some of the classic songs of the first part of the 21st century.

Let’s celebrate the joys of songs like Friday’s Child, when pop almost tilts into rock, Who Am I, Grace and You and I, numbers which had the crowd singing and dancing, some of them in tears of the awesome scale and pitch of the Young voice.

This is entertainment at its highest level – and Will is adored by is fans who come in all shapes, sizes and ages.

Some trail their hero across the country – one set of women have travelled from all parts of the country to watch every one of the 14 shows to date – will they ever get home?

My favourite on the night was the classic number one, Leave Right Now, which beat the delightful Changes by a short quaver.

With dozens of mobile phones capturing video moments - Will even filmed himself for someone on the front row - this was a night to store in the memory banks for a long time to come.

I don’t know about Leave Right Now – it’s more like Come Back Soon!

Can't have that wonderful eview posted too many times munchkin. He's one CLASS ACT! :yahoo:

Brilliant (see how many times I can say the word brilliant  ) reviews which beats all the other brilliant reviews that have been written about this tour. :yahoo:

I forgot to say when i went to the 2nd date in Manchester i heard 2 women talking behind me [in the interval] one said to the other "i have just been to see Boyzone" and her mate asked how it was the lady answered in a very irritated voice that they were rubbish and you could tell they were only in it for the money then went on to rant about the dancing being cheesy ..she went on and on... then she said the last time i saw Will he had big screens and dancers she said looking at the stage it does not look like we are are to get that.."is he just going to stand there" [said in a snotty voice  her friend who obviously had only gone along with her mate sounded uninterested and said she didn't know she had never been to see him before...i kept thinking they were taking up seats that fans would have loved

Anyway the concert started and i forgot about them but after one one the songs ended i could her the lady almost shouting " my God he is amazing" with totally awe in her voice [she kept going on for ages] then after You & I i heard her say " BLOODY HELL What a voice" [ hubby was laughing listening to her :P ] after the concert she was in raptures and her friend the uninterested one was almost hysterical saying they to go again they had to find a way to get tickets"

There were 2 women and there partners sitting in front of us ..and i thought i wonder if the man were dragged along...how wrong was i the women sat down quite a lot but the man never did and they were cheering the most [ they were both massive as you can see from my YDK video  ]

Also when we were leaving the theatre i have never heard so many people [ and i have been to a lot of Will concerts :P ] saying how good he was live and saying how awesome his voice and performance was...and about 60% of the voices were male.

Bet you were grinning all the way home sunday hearing all those fantastic comments :D :D . Love the turnaround from the two women. They deserved to be treated to a master class as suffering the cheesy Manzone.

I think there have been a lot of locals at these gigs & many seeing Will for the first time. Bet he's surprised a fair few. :yahoo:

Hi everyone, what a great thread this is - Ive just read the lot!

BYM&Ms - love the pics, the videos and the story of the women. I bet that has been repeated in all the theatres this tour, people would have to be blind deaf and dumb not to recognise the fabulous talent of Mr WRY..

Great to hear BYM+M's. Would be great if they wer all to buy the album. :D

Aww BYM&Ms - what a fantastic little story.....I just love converts

I've done 3 so far, Oxford Portsmouth & Ipswich....brilliant just brilliant. The only thing I was a little disappointed with was the inclusion of LIAMOD (which got a round of applause at Ipswich as it started  ) but I was happily distracted by the blue trousers .....blimey they were tight at Oxford :naughty:

But the concerts have just been phenomenal, best for me - Fridays Child & Grace....wish my old man could see those but I don't encourage him as he might want to come & cramp my style B)

He really is on top form atm, I'm just wondering what I'm gonna do with myself when he finishes this year.

Planning next years tour hopefully ;)

Watching the joy on his face this tour I'm sure Will willl be raring to do more gigs next year. This is what a musical career is all about for Will performing live with his band. Bet he's do it every night if he could. :D
