November 15, 200816 yr Found this in the retro lounge, its better viewed in here, gets wider coverage, for members that don't visit other forums Awesome news :cheer:
November 15, 200816 yr Let's hope they put it on a decent time slot, Saturday tea-time would be nice, I bet Fearne and Reggie will be presenting the show :D
November 15, 200816 yr Like I said in the other thread, hopefully all the genres will have a chance to be on it. When it merged with Totp2 it was like the indie show with some pop acts in between.
November 15, 200816 yr If it is comes back on a Friday or Saturday, will that mean the chart will be on that day?
November 15, 200816 yr But what's the point...? The reason it was cancelled in the first place was because of falling audience figures.... And surely this was happening due to things such as the Internet, "X-Factor" (as much as I loathe it, you certainly cannot argue that more people watched TOTP than "X-Factor") and YouTube rendering TOTP irrelevant.. People KNOW the charts and the material far ahead of whatever transmission date, and also more real music fans were watching stuff like "Later...." or the Channel 4 late night music progs because the bands featured on those were tending to play live more rather than mime.... I cant see how conditions have improved for TOTP tbh...
November 15, 200816 yr I agree with Grim i will not be watching as the people who tend to be on TOTP are unable to perform live so just mime instead, and then even if they can perform live it doesnt matter as there miming, why would you want to sit there for half an hour watching something fake?

I cant see how conditions have improved for TOTP tbh... Audience figures plummeted because of the c**p time slot and making it into CD:UK -_- They managed to revive Top Gear and Dr. Who and it has been highlighted in recent weeks that there NEEDS to be more pop music on TV and ever since it was taken off there have been many people saying it was a huge mistake in the first place! They just need to make it a decent show with varied types of music and have good presenter(s) on it *cough*SIMONAMSTELL*cough* I've felt for a long time all we needed was just a more mainstream version of Later With Jools Holland (the best programme on TV) and what's better than this? The intention this time should be for new and exciting music rather than showing whatever is 'cool', I just hope they don't have too many pointless manufactured acts and just show the music rather than 'interviews'
November 15, 200816 yr Often, I'm not aware of everything new and it's good to have a programme you'd put on just to see. If it's rubbish, then it'll fail but I'm glad it's being gioven a chance.
November 15, 200816 yr You just need a show like this to come back, for acts to promote their music, SD and X Factor can only promote one act each week, where like a show like TOTP, can promote several acts all at once. Jonathan Ross show gave acts a boost, without that show, we seem to be limted of acts promoting their music. Their needs to be a music show of some kind. I know there are music channels, but all they do is churning out the videos non stop.

I'm pretty sure Standing Next To Me by Last Shadow Puppets would have failed to make the top 40 without Wossy!

And one which I would support, with the proviso that all acts perform live, and there aint no videos either (which is what YouTube is there for)... What you are describing though aint TOTP as I understand it to be....
