TTWII - The Complete Works

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/TTWII20COMPLETE20WORKS20PACKAGE.jpg

This is the complete package and tracklisting of the "Elvis - That's The Way It Is - The Complete Works" CD / DVD package which is due for release from the new "International" import label. The set contains 6 CDs, 3 DVDs and book in a beautiful box.

From the press-releases:

Elvis – That’s The Way It Is – The Complete Works is a mammoth project 38 years overdue. It’s a chronicle through audio, video and still photography of a special era in the life of the King of Rock and Roll.

For the first time, fans now have a documented project on one of Elvis’ most popular movies. The new ‘International’ label will release the spectacular 9 Disc/Book Limited Edition box set imminently, with a run of only 999 copies being made available. No more will be produced.

Fans will have all complete six shows, recorded for the 1970 movie ‘That’s The Way It Is’ on 6 CD’s and 3 dual layer DVD’s filled with over 9 hours of complete shows with excellent edits, amazing multi angle sequences and much more. In addition to this, a 125 page hardback book with lots of interesting facts and photographs accompanies the box set.

The 6 CD’s are complete from beginning to end and contains many unreleased live recordings and monologues (also some that were left out of previously released shows) that only the privilege few have heard before. Collectors will notice the different mixes even in previously released audio.

The 3 Dual Layer DVD’s video footage has been culled from over 50 different discs to find the best quality with thousands of hours put in to make the 9 hours of concert and rehearsal video contained in the DVD’s. Collectors will note verses and sections cut out of songs in the original MGM edits now present in their entirety and in the proper sequence. The added multi angle sequences throughout the DVD’s makes it a pleasure to finally watch in one go.

See Complete Track listing below.

Great care has been taken to give the fans a limited edition package that will provide hours of pleasure for many years to come. With such a limited run, ensure you ask your dealer to hold your copy now. The set is almost sold out before it’s released.

Elvis: That's The Way It Is - The Complete Works - 6CD/DVD/book set - Video (including quality) Update: EIN received the following message:

Details of the Video Footage: I've just had the opportunity to watch the 9+ hours of video (exhausting but intriguing as well) and think I can provide some accurate details to the questions being asked:

-the focus of the video is Elvis. If a camera angle with Elvis in it exists, then that is what is seen on the screen.

The picture quality is the best you will ever have seen of these outtakes (and I've purchased over 50 discs of this material over the last few years spending over $1,500). The footage has either come from an earlier generation copy or has been extensively remastered to improve sharpness/colour/reduce graininess, etc (or both). It is not as good as SE of course (except for the portions in the edits borrowed from the original discs) but significantly better than what we have had before.

The edits are all created 'new' from scratch. Nothing has been taken from previous Star or other releases. There is at least 3 hours of new footage without "Propert of ..." and perhaps about 30 minutes of footage never before seen.

Some of the completely 'new' footage that I can remember includes: "Something" from Aug 10; "some extra telegram" reading:

"Love Me Tender" complete from Aug 12ds without Property..;

"Lovin' Feeling" complete from Aug 12ds ( T T WII SE was a splice of Aug 12ds and Aug 11ds);

"new extra dialogue" before 20 days on Aug 12ds;

"extra dialogue" before H Hotel on Aug 12ds;

"H Dog" from Aug 12 ms but mainly the band;

"dialogue and complete instrumental" before and after Polk Salad Aug 12ms

"H Hotel" Aug 12ms (to this date I've never seen the first bar of the song with Elvis in the picture, always the audience

"Love Me/Words/Lonesome T onight" Aug 12ms without Property..

'Lot of New dialogue before Wonder of You" Aug 13ds

"Can't Help Falling" more complete Aug 11ds

"Love Me Tender" Aug 11ms

"Believing" Aug 11ms

"I'll Take you Home Kathleen"-few lines Aug 7 rehearsal

"Lot of clips" with original sound from Aug 14MS that were new to me.

Probably a lot more but these clips stood out in my mind.

There is no cropping of any pictures. In the 3 angle sequences, the main angle is raised to the top where the widescreen black bars would normally be seen. The 2 additional angles are at 50% size and below the main normal sized angle. Talking about angles, there are lots of new angles thoughout that I had not seen before

Sound throughout is excellent to my ears except with Aug 14MS which is 'camera' sound. T he rest has to be from BMG source but the mix is different.

Live material played surround on a dolby digital 2x receiver.

-3 angle screens seem to be in perfect synch

-picture looked very good on a 65 inch screen and better than what I've seen before

-some of the songs (perhaps 5-6) do not have original Elvis footage but rather nicely created videos from candid/band/audience/Vegas clips to create more complete shows for Aug 11 and 12. All the rest are complete Elvis songs presented in multi angle and single angle depending on what was available.

Don't expect Turner quality throughout

Expect better quality than you've ever seen before

Expect excellent sound in stereo (except for rehearsals which are a combination.

Expect perfect synchs

Expect complete songs in order

Expect lots of new footage without Property..

Expect seamless transitions from multi angle to single angle

Expect a box set that you will value for many years to come

Expect to be able to see where Turner/MGM did their splices and the proper order here.

Elvis That's The Way It Is - The Complete Works now shipping!!!:

Finally, after a few delays, the much anticipated 3DVD/6CD/book set has left the warehouse! And the initial response from fans and Elvis clubs is a positive one!!

Initial feedback can be found on the FECC board, EP Gold and Elvis Express. EIN has received a number of messages indicating "....well worth the wait", ".....video quality is up and down but overall a great set" and "...best release in years!"

The bulk of the 1,000 limited edition set was sold on "pre-order" and while a number of suppliers are seeking additional orders, they are simply not available!! What this means is that many suppliers have already "sold out" of their initial order and will not be able to obtain further copies

Visit 'Elvis Express Radio' for images from the set

You lucky, lucky people who will be receiving it shortly :)
