Posted November 17, 200816 yr OK, I wasn't even alive in '78, but a lot of my favourite songs have come from this year. So here goes: 1. Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen In Love With Someone You Shouldn't Have Fallen In Love With Defo would be one of my "desert island discs". Outstanding! Love it! 2. Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights This must have sounded very strange at the time, but a superb record. Man With The Child In His Eyes equally as fantastic. 3. Sweet - Love Is Like Oxygen Great song. By far, my favourite of theirs. 4. ELO - Sweet Talkin Woman Got a bit of a soft spot for this & Livin' Thing 5. Undertones - Teenage Kicks Glorious! 6. Yvonne Elliman - If I Can't Have You Never been much of a fan of Bee Gees. Don't know why, really. But this is fantastic 7. Boomtown Rats - Rat Trap First "New Wave" number one 8. Blondie - Hanging On The Telephone Faultless 9. Jilted John - Jilted John  Love this! 10. Clout - Substitute Bit of a guilty pleasure here, but what a great pop song 11. Olivia Newton John - Hopelessly Devoted To You Ditto above  12. Donna Summer - MacCarthur Park My Mum's favourite. Bless her.

November 17, 200816 yr 5. Undertones - Teenage Kicks Glorious! Should be required listening for every "indie" band out there tbh, along with The Cure's "Boys Dont Cry".... Now THIS is how you write a great tune Mr Martin....
