November 21, 200816 yr This looks like we could be in for a rather superb "reboot" in the style of Batman and James Bond.... J J Abrahms being directly involved is probably the best news one could hope for.. As a long-time Trek fan since childhood, I am very much looking forward to this... The only thing is, I'm not entirely convinced by this Chris Pine fella as Kirk, not seen him do much.... I'd've personally preferred Matt Damon or James McAvoy....
November 22, 200816 yr I loved Star Trek The next Genaration. The best part of the series . I don't think I will see this film, the original idea is not anymore to be seen in this trailer. They are to keen on special effects today ( the same as for Star wars...) ^_^

Same here, Matt Damon would have been my ideal choice as Kirk, apart from that, its got the perfect casting, apart from Scotty (Simon Pegg). I really wanted Paul Gaison from Stargate Atlantis in the Scotty role.

Spock shows up in "Next Gen" as well though in some episodes, along with his father, Sarek (Vulcans live to a LONG age)... They talk about his human mother, Amanda (who is obviously dead by then)...

Who was convinced when they announced that Daniel Craig would be the next Bond? Incidentally, didn't they say this time last year (ish) that it would be released on Boxing Day this year?
