I agree, Pip. Theatre consists mainly of commercial ventures, and creative though some may be, it all boils down to money.

Actors may drool over the artistic and visionary performances they are being given the opportunity to portray, but the bottom

line is still how much they will be paid. And this applies to all walks of showbiz. Fame can be exhilarating, but it's money

which pays the bills. If the public want soft-soaping with predictable theatre, there will always be people to provide such shows.

Darius's New Pop At Fame

Jan 4 2009

DARIUS DANESH will return from Hollywood to launch a fresh assault on the pop charts.

The 28-year-old Popstars and Pop Idol star is recording a third album.

He revealed his plans while spending Christmas with fiancee Natasha Henstridge, 34, in Canada.

Scots singer Darius - whose first single Colourblind went to No.1 - said: "You didn't hear from me much in 2008 but I'll be back in the New Year."

Its Lovely to see Darius getting some publicity about his new album and his plans for this year....it lets other people know that he is still around, and that he is still doing his music too!

Just dont like the term "asault"on the charts though

Cant wait ,i'm SOOOOO exited!! :cheer:

Well all I can say is they know how to read blogs....but at least they felt it important enough to print which is great.

However he never actually mentioned his album......just that he was going to work with Pete

But on saying that I'm sure his priority is his album :D

I sure do hope so........we've waited far too long!

So do you all think that we can be sure it will definitely be a 'Pop' album and we will get to see D play his guitar and play with a band again - oh I do hope so!!! I long for some more outside 'gigs' like Lincoln - such a wonderful atmosphere!!

He could always produce a double album - one CD of musical-type songs and one of 'pop' just to keep everyone happy!! :D

Whatever the music-style, I hope there is a tour!!

Julie

I too hope there is a tour, Julie. Roll on 2009 ! Whatever type of music the new album holds, I think it will be all original self-written songs.

Can't see D including any covers.

We've waited so long for this album, but as for what to expect I'm not sure. I do think it's going to very special though. Sue

OMG i SO hope that Darius does a tour this year too  !!!....its been so long sincewe've seen him performing his own stuff, and like everyone else,i'm SO hungry to see him back up on the stage where he belongs performing his new music!!Even better if he's got his guitar again too,i've missed seeing him playing that :( .I completly agree with Julie about doing some more outside gigs for us again too,Lincoln was just totally Amasing!!Sooooo cant wait for this Amasing new album of his too,i just know that its going to be Awesome!!!!!

Bring on 2009!! :yahoo:

as usual some journo must ahve read a blog etc- although nice to read his name in the press - cant say I hold much to their being factual, as mentioned - darius said he was returing to work with Pete, and there has not been any mention of pop by Darius for some good time now..of course I always get a shudder that the tabloids are gearing themselves up to pour scorn on hi8m again!!
I have to agree with what PIP says, there is a lot of ridicule elsewhere about artistes who DONT write their own material yet he does but the press will still have a go.

Liberace had a lot of bad jibes from the media, but, as he said, he laughed all the way to the bank. What seems to be more

damaging is the dearth of radio play-time, when he releases new material.

Quote from the Guardian

..........despite all the doomsaying that legitimate digital music sales will never make up for the drop-off in physical CD shipments caused by internet piracy, the UK music market was actually down a mere 1.1% last year. That compares with a 9% drop the previous year.

.........In music, sales of singles were up 33% at 115.1m units – all but 5m of which were digital downloads. The total music market was 145.1 million units shipped in 2008, down 1.1%.

It seems the economic downturn has not yet badly affected the music market, but downloads are sadly outweighing CDs.

Personally I much prefer the CD.

Rea this elsewhere. Andy murray britains no.1 tennis player) has signed with 19 management. They are considered to be the best one around. They will surely be concentrating on him as the austalian open is on tv shortly and he is expected to beat the worlds best. I remember seeing D in the audience at wimbledon when Murray first started -playing.

I think in one of his interviews, D said his brother Cyrus was very good at tennis, didn't he ?

I hope Murray makes it, he seems to have been on the verge for ages.

Thanks to delphi for the article from the sunday mail re D. What has happened to Baytree and Meg.

Yes he did mention that.

What has happened to Baytree and Meg.

I keep wondering that, Preston. Meg went to stay at her Mum's and has no internet input, but I thought she would have been back

by now. Is her Mum ill, Spam ?

Baytree told us her sister is very ill, so I'm surmising they are spending time together.

Let's hope they're soon back with us.
