The trend nowadays seems to be not marriage, but partners.

Is the Mexican band the same group we were discussing in the Five Years thread, or a different one, Pip ?

The 5.30 show on STV, the one Darius was on when they asked him about the snakeskin boots, is ending and being replaced with an hour long magazine type show covering films, books, music, chat show guests etc. It could be good or dire. Sounds like STV's answer to The One Show, which I actually don't mind at all.

The male presenter from the 5.30 show is staying on but he'll be joined each week by a guest presenter.... Kaye Adams, Carol Smillie and a few others I don't recall and Michelle McManus . It'll be nice to find out what she's been doing. I think there was a single or album on the release list for later this year.

Funny how people we've not heard of for ages, suddenly re-surface on chat shows etc. when a new recording/book/show/film

is in the offing !!! The P.R. people suddenly begin working overtime, and the chat shows depend on promoting publicity in return

for the interview. At least M.M. will be paid to present, not just for appearing. Is she originally from Glasgow ?

She is, I think. I quite like the One show. My favorite is still the Wright Stuff though. they are very good.

I haven't followed Michelle's career but I seem to recall that she presents/presented her own radio programme.

I'm pretty sure all the co-presenters named are female, so no chance at present of Darius brushing up his presenting skills, I suspect.

 No..........but he could always wear he's kilt of course! ;)

One garment I wouldn't mind Darius giving a few more outings to is that black leather kilt he wore at the Glasgow Dive In dates.

Did he wear it outside Scotland? I'm sure he didn't when I saw him at Oxford and Hammersmith. I'd pity any co-presenter. The cameras love Darius.

Do you remember all the complaints on forums when he did Pop Idol Extra? There were moans that he was featured onscreen more than Michelle and Mark. Mad! It's not as if Darius had any input. They don't do precise camera angle rehearsals for the extra programmes for the reality TV shows. The guy upstairs calls the shots.

Michelle and Mark were thunde struck with the results. If it hadn't been for kate and Darius it'd have been a very silent episode.
Those guests Baytree has mentioned Kay Adams, carole smillie, michelle mcmanus are all from either Glasgow or nearby arent they so why not Darius appearing or is it a female show.
No.it has a permanant male presenter. I suppose they may be wanting one of each sex. I'd be happy with Darius though.
One male, one female is obviously the plan for the initial run. Whether it continues and changes are made will depend on ratings.
Maybe they could switch the regular presenter to one week female and one week male. That'd be fairer. Although I wouldn't mind two males if one was D.

Wouldnt it be good if they could do this with Gone with the wind.

quote - A concert performance of the recent Broadway flop, 'A Tale Of Two Cities' is to be filmed at the Theatre Royal Brighton this summer.

It will be screened in the U.S in late 2009.

The DVD will be released in the U.K Dec 2009 with the production screened on UK TV in 2010.

Members of the Broadway cast are to fly over for the production and they will be backed by a full company of English performers.

The public could then make up their own minds.

A bit more gossip from theSun -

GUY RITCHIE is in Hollywood putting pen to paper on a deal to direct a remake of classic musical Guys And Dolls.

Musical remake ... Guy Ritchie

Splash News

Studio bosses in tinsel town are desperate to cash in on the money-spinning success of last year’s Mamma Mia movie starring MERYL STREEP and PIERCE BROSNAN.

Now Guy’s been given the green light to embark on a casting mission to fill the roles of Sky Masterson and Nathan Detroit — played by screen legends MARLON BRANDO and FRANK SINATRA in the original.

And while scouting around in LA, the Snatch director was snapped with a mystery doll of his own at a Malibu beach bash.

A source said: “Guy has been on the case with the idea of making a musical recently.

“He had been throwing ideas around with JASON STATHAM about writing their own musical. They were joking that it would be a cross between Worzel Gummidge and Bullitt.

“Guy has had a lot of meetings with top studio bosses about other projects but the Guys And Dolls idea really tickled him.

“He is torn between keeping the script true to the original in New York and taking it to familiar surroundings in London.”

The 1955 film, based on the hit Broadway musical, was all about a bloke who wanted to stay out with his pals every night gambling rather than spend time at home with his religious missus

Like most directors, Guy Ritchie has had both successes (Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels)

and failures (Swept Away and Revolver). Wonder what he will make of Guys and Dolls?

Wouldnt it be good if they could do this with Gone with the wind.

I'd love that to happen with GWTW.

If it's true about Guy Richie, wouldn't that be perfect for Darius. He's already shown how good he is in the part of Sky. Sue

I also think they would go for a big name but honestly how do these people get a big name themselves. I watched the film Australia this week starring Hugh Jackman who I keep reading about being a huge musical star wanted for this and that and although he is Ok as an actor, the charisma was not there for me. he looked much older than I expected, craggy I think would be a description for me.
