I can't find a BIlly Flynn song but here are Gary and Barbara Dickson singing I've never been in love before.

 

 

They're technically good but for me, nowhere near as compelling as Darius and Louise. Gary doesn't seem to feel what he's singing.

I didnt realise Gary wilmont was 55 now either. Saw him in me and my girl years years ago at Plymouth. he was Ok but nothing special and wasnt keen on the show itself.Off this weekend to see Glyn kerslake who is from my home town I told you about before having played all the leads in the west end. He is doing a concert in Torquay in a church turned into a theatre and it is really lovely. Appearing alongside him is Shona linsey who has also played numerous leads in the west end and tour and still is, so think it will be really good as he is a fantastic pianist as well.Just hope we dont get a lot of Sondheim as am not keen, hoping he will sing from les mis amongst others as he has a fantastic voice.l

Fresh from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, in which he made his West End debut in February (See News, 26 Nov 2008), Gareth Gates will star as revolutionary Marius in the new 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables, which launches a major international tour Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, where it runs 11 December 2009 to 16 January 2010 (See News, 16 Jun 2009).

 

Gates, who first found fame as the runner-up to Will Young on the first series of ITV’s Pop Idol in 2002 and last year was a Dancing on Ice semi-finalist, will star alongside two West End alumni of Les Miserables.

 

 

Congratulations to Gareth. It's a brilliant role and one which made Michael Ball's name.

 

International tour too, not just UK - that should shut his critics up!

Meanwhile maybe Darius is heading back to 'Chicago'. I think there's someone else following Jerry and then Darius. It's just guesswork so could easilt be wrong. I'd be more thrilled iuf Jerry hadn't been deemed suitable for the role.

Although I saw les Mis on broadway I dont remember the parts exactly but apparently they havent cast Enjolras yet or it hasnt been announced. The only thing I would say about Chicago is it still keeps going in the westend and on tour so it must be doing something right. I personally love it but is this a good step for D. if it happens. Agree with what you say re jerry springer, it has undermined the role to some degree.

I've only seen the tour castings for Les Mis. I thought Earl was playing the West End role but he's playing it in the tour.

Yes I am. They weren't there at the end of May which was the date I was there before.

Destiny Child's Michelle Williams is due to be Roxie on 13th July. They don't usually have two names at once.

Been thinking. If Darius did do Chicago again, perhaps it might be a prelude to get him back into the public eye before he went on to do some bigger project? Sue

Who knows. We can only hope. Hoping for September but no idea really.

They're usually very up to date with their posters etc. It just doesn't make sense to me that they have a new Roxie who's done the National Lottery show on Saturday, an interview on GMTV two days ago and has other shows in the pipeline and it's Darius is on the poster.

 

Could it be that the one you saw in Waterloo is one of the old ones which was maybe out of sight behind something which has been taken away?

this is torture! what is he doing!!!!! I need to know so badly, I cant feel anything but bitter when I hear news of anyone else, wrong for sure,but the idea that JS could perhaps have an incident huhum and they call on D to replace him... I can't help it, how wierd that poster has Darius, but for sure he is the perfect Billy!!

I didn't recognise any of them but that's just me. The on ly two (well one at first) who caught my eye were Darius and the man whose name I can't remember for the life of me who's down as the next Billy. A black guy who does look as though he'd suit the role very well.

So it's a poster of past Billy Flynns and that's why Darius is on it.

 

The black performer could be the American actor Taye Diggs. I found a blog which said the author went to Chicago, thought they were getting Taye Diggs and got JS instead.

 

Taye Diggs started in musicals and is married to Idina Menzel. He'd be quite a catch for the London Chicago.

 

I wouldn't think they'd put him on at the same time as Michelle Williams unless they really want to reverse the impression formed, rightly or wrongly, from hiring Jerry Springer.
