I just don't think being tied to any show, raises anyone's profile. Theatre is still pretty much ignored by the media and the public at large unless there are constant excerpts on TV. Even at that, I wonder how many non theatre fans would recognise Ryan Molloy on the street - Jersey Boys never seems to have been off screen for long.

It was more promotion of specific songs from shows which made e.g. Elaine Page, Michael Ball and Ruthie Henshall has been a majoe West End star for a decade or more but not well known outside theatre circles. Being a judge on Dancing On Ice rocketed her to celebrity status, as Any Dream Will Do and Torchwood did for John Barrowman. TV and media column inches raise profiles.

They are discussin g GG in les mis on WOS or I should say his fan base is, Darius gets a mention -

All this scepticism and negativity reminds me of the reaction on these boards when Darius Danesh was cast as Rhett Butler. People shot him down before he'd sung a note or said a line too, but he rose to the challenge, and how!

I asm looking forward to tomorrow nite to see Glyn kerslake and shona linsey in concert, according to our local press they both played the leads in Phantom in the westend and they are going to be singing it tomorrow amongst others so really looking forward to that.

True. Some of the things they said on the theatre boards about Darius at the beginning of 2008 were outrageous.

All of the active threads on the West End broadwayworld forum had to be removed because a minority of posters were so determined to get Darius and went much too far. When the mods cut their discussion they'd re-posted it in all the other threads. Some threads were put back but a lot of people lost discussions they'd been contributing to, long before Darius got the part.

I can't blame Gareth's fans for putting these people to rights. They're trying to stop them looking like complete idiots when he does exceptionally well. Gareth showed he could perform and fit right in with experienced West End performers in the one night Stiles and Drew concert and in Joseph, just as Darius had in Chicago and Guys and Dolls.

PI can still be a bit of a poison chalice. Even when you move away from the field it embraced.
and we know who got his fingers rapped for being the first to say it publicly (when he thought he was speaking in private). He knew it back then. Maybe not that it would be toxic to the non-winners for years afterward, though.

I don't think any of them could have known that. I keep wondering at the people who go on the x factor as they can't say they haven't been warned.

I'm so releived that Darius isn't doing Chicago again. As Fantastic as it would of been for him,i'm just so hungry for his own stuff again!!......but i would've still booked to see him in the show, coz i'm hungry to see him again!!

Lets hope we dont have to wait too much longer now!!

According to a poster on WOS Terence maynard is to follow jerry springer, this could be why D is on the poster at waterloo because I dont even know what terence maynard looks like or what he has done and I suspect a lot of the public are the same although I know he has been Billy before. I think D followed him on the last stint there or he followed D. I think it is all guesswork.

Well if he was,we'd of heard something by now surely?

Terence Maynard is the regular fill-in Billy Flynn. Darius took over from Terence Maynard way back in November 2005. Terence has played the part many times between then and now.
Viewing life through rose coloured glasses, perhaps Darius will follow Terence and that's why the poster is up. I can only dream! Sue
I should think so. I can't think of any other reason why Darius and Terence are on the poster. Publicity wouldn't start until nearer the end of the preceding Billy's run
Can be boring waiting though. That's the trouble with him choosing to live in LA. We hear nothing normally but it is his life and his choice.

Well I couldnt help but think this could have been Darius when I went to my local concert with Glyn kerslake and shona linsey. The setting was beautiful and the singing and programme were simply outstanding especially coming home from les miserables sung by glyn which showed how brilliant a voice he has with so much control. He and shona sang a medley from Phantom which they starred in together in the westend and that also got a standing ovation twice. They also had a girl cellist with them who played accompaniment both on cello and piano when they sang and glyn played the piano for shona and also did show medleys. He is a fantastic pianist. He said they both had a long association with ALW.They all have a busy life, Shona starring in wales in Anna and the king of siam, the girl cellist with the orchestra of westside story at bristol and glyn in the play the odd couple. He also starred as long john silver at the derby playhouse recently. They had to leave immediately to travel to their respective venues. It was a wonderful evening. Are you listening Darius.

Sorry if I have bored you.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Preston. Darius hasn't given up writing and wants to release his album. He doesn't want to just do musicals. Gareth has decided he doesn't want to record at the moment and has moved over to musicals. I'd hate Darius to give up when he doesn't want to.
Yeah so would i too Meg!......Music is Darius' Passion, and Darius' music is our Passion!
