That's the thing i'm worried about with "Breathe Slow"; promotion. Isn't she off climbing mountains soon??

i think thats for comic relief so it'll be beginning of march,

she can promote breathe slow first week of feb maybe? The week before and during its release would be the best time.

I think the comic relief climb is mid or late february so plenty of time to promote the single in the fortnight beginning the 2nd of feb.

Up to #30 on iTunes. :D

should we be happy or sad?

Im nervous this will affect her sales when its released but i guess at least people are buying it

The song entering the charts this early is great advertising, as it means prominence on itunes and it's likely to be played on the chart shows. It also means DJs know it's popular so may be more inclined to support it.

Once airplay kicks in it could even get into the top 10 before the physical release.

I'm not that bothered about its eventual chart position although the higher the better. If this helps sell the album then it's done its job!

Alesha has just told me she's 40+9 in the midweeks with Breathe Slow and 10+6 with TBDN.

It's #44 today :D Also added to Radio 1 on the c-list. All good!
I am disappointed it didn't get onto the radio 2 playlist. I hope that's not a bad sign as TBDN was on radio 2 before radio 1 playlisted it.
i doubt many of her fans listen to radio 2 anyway. She still has four weeks before its released so im not bothered yet.
I'm not bothered about it being on radio 1 or 2, but radio 2 contributes a lot to the overall airplay chart, therefore the higher it is the better. But there's still time!
I'm shocked by how much I like this. I thought it would be very generic and nothing on the first single but it beats that I think. Woo.
Woo! A second top40 hit then, as long as it can maintain this position until Sunday anyway. Looking like a top20 when it's released!

Although Breathe Slow is one of my least favourite Alesha tracks I actually see this being as big as TBDN. Before I knew it was a single I thought it'd do terrible but if it's good enough to get Top 40 a month before release and before all the promo kicks in I think it's good enough to go Top 10. By the time it's released I reckon all current popular tracks (Beyonce, Alexandra, Leona etc) will have fallen. She's also releasing on a week where there isn't much competition around.

im really pleased for her. i hope it stays in the top 40 right through until its released. I think its better to get a bit of a lower position in the charts and stays there for a long time rather then just peak at number 3 then there drop out the top 40 completely a couple of weeks later (like what happened to Leon off x factor). Sales count for soo much more nowadays then just getting a top 3 hit.

I wonder how many sales Beathe slow has had already? It must have at least a few thousand to be at number 40!

I hope it doesn't go the way Will Young's Grace went. It entered the chart after he performed it on x factor and everyone thought it was going to be a huge hit.

This was its chart run in the end. 35-47-61-63-33

but did Will young do any promotion after x factor? i cant really remember him doing any.

Im not too worried for Alesha as long as she has radio support for it. Ive yet to hear it on the radio yet but if it gets airplay i think it'll do well as its a real grower. I think we should start requesting the song on radio stations.

I don't follow his career closely but I can remember him cropping up here and there, TV, radio and print media. He also got massive airplay particularly from capital fm. He may even have topped the airplay chart or been in the top 2. It wasn't for want of promotion and I'm still baffled as it was his first decent song since leave right now.

Requesting songs on radio stations went out in the mid noughties, it's all about the playlist now and no amount of requesting makes a difference. That big scandal of last year uncovered that, even though Dermot still asks people to text in questions for his PRERECORDED show

I still wouldnt worry about it yet. I'll only start to panic if it gets to the week before the the release date and its totally out the top 40. At the moment i think shes doing okay and to be honest as long as the song promotes the album thats what her record label will want.

Ill be suprised if she doesnt at least peak in the 20s!
