Posted November 24, 200816 yr Well, well this week probably give`s us the most exciting chart of the year, even more so than Christmas! So, with thanks to Peter Jay, and John McManus at HMV, and all those other instore charts at all major stockists/download sites. We bring the info. I found it quite alarming that ill-fated Woolworths, had Rhydian just below Now 71! And in their combined top 30..both Guns n`Roses, & Killers only just scraped the top 30 at all! :o Here is the album/average preview: 01 01 NOW 71 - VARIOUS 02 NE DAY AND AGE - KILLERS 03 NE CHINESE DEMOCRACY - GUNS N`ROSES 04 08 SPIRIT DELUXE EDITION - LEONA 05 01 SAFE TRIP HOME - DIDO 06 NE RHYDIAN - RHYDIAN 07 NE THE ALESHA SHOW - ALESHA DIXON 08 12 DARK HORSE - NICKELBACK 09 NE 808s AND HEARTACHES - KANYE WEST 10 06 DECADE IN THE SUN - STEREOPHONICS 11 NE PRIESTS - PRIESTS 12 10 ONLY BY THE NIGHT - KINGS OF LEON 13 NE ROCKFERRY DELUXE EDITION - DUFFY 14 NE THE REASON - LEMAR 15 07 OUT OF CONTROL - GIRLS ALOUD 16 09 FUNHOUSE - PINK 17 11 HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3 - OST 18 04 I AM SASHA FIERCE - BEYONCE 19 03 THE PROMISE - IL DIVO 20 NE R + B THE COLLECTION 09 - VARIOUS 21 21 UNCLE B - N-DUBZ 22 NE GREATEST HITS - CRAIG DAVID 23 05 CLUBLAND 14 - VARIOUS 24 18 POP PARTY 6 - VARIOUS 25 NE MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC - JOHN BARROWMAN 26 17 GREATEST HITS - ENRIQUE 27 NE ONLY MEN ALOUD - ONLY MEN ALOUD 28 23 DREAMBOATS AND PETTICOATS 2 - VARIOUS 29 28 GREATEST HITS - SIMPLY RED 30 15 MY LOVE - CELINE DION Outside the 30 are COLDPLAY - PROSPEKTS MARCH 31, SNOW PATROL 32, FRON VALLEY MALE VOICE CHOIR 33, ENYA 34, AC/DC 35, ANTHEMS 2 36, SALVATION ARMY 37, TAKE THAT 38, DIVAS 39, HARDCORE CLASSICS 09 40. Outside are combined top 40 are CRAIG DAVID, CHRISTINA, MARIAH CAREY, TAKE THAT (NEVER FORGET), SASH, NE-YO, SCRIPT, RAZORLIGHT, PUSSYCAT DOLLS, BOB THE BUILDER...POGUES hit top 60 again, NICKELBACK have "IF TODAY WAS YOUR LAST DAY" in the 60 too...as ALPHABEAT, and SOLANGE have had it! Last week we got 37 in the top 40 singles, and 28 in the top 30 combined albums. Back in November 1981, this was the Radio Luxembourg crystal ball: 01 02 UNDER PRESSURE - QUEEN/DAVID BOWIE 02 06 FAVOURITE SHIRTS - HAIRCUT 100 03 01 BEGIN THE BEGUINE - JULIO IGLESIAS 04 12 I GO TO SLEEP - PRETENDERS 05 10 PHYSICAL - OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN 06 19 BEDSITTER - SOFT CELL 07 14 LET`S GROOVE - EARTH WIND AND FIRE 08 09 TONIGHT I`M YOURS - ROD STEWART 09 05 EVERY LITTLE THING SHE DOES IS MAGIC - POLICE 10 11 AY AY AY MOOSEY - MODERN ROMANCE 11 03 WHEN SHE WAS MY GIRL - FOUR TOPS 12 04 JOAN OF ARC - ORCHESTRAL MANOUEVRES IN THE DARK 13 13 STEPPIN`OUT - KOOL AND THE GANG 14 NE DADDY`S HOME - CLIFF RICHARD 15 15 WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE - DIANA ROSS 16 28 TEARS ARE NOT ENOUGH - ABC 17 NE FLASHBACK - IMAGINATION 18 08 LABELLED WITH LOVE - SQUEEZE 19 30 YES TONIGHT JOSEPHINE - JETS 20 16 IT`S MY PARTY - DAVE STEWART/BABERA GASKIN 21 18 THE VOICE - ULTRAVOX 22 07 HAPPY BIRTHDAY - ALTERED IMAGES 23 17 GOOD YEAR FOR THE ROSES - ELVIS COSTELLO 24 22 LOVE ME TONIGHT - TREVOR WALTERS 25 27 MIRROR MIRROR - DOLLAR 26 NE CAMBODIA - KIM WILDE 27 NE ME AND MR SANCHEZ - BLUE RONDO A LA TURK 28 NE TURN YOUR LOVE AROUND - GEORGE BENSON 29 21 WHEN YOU WERE SWEET SIXTEEN - FUREYS/DAVEY ARTHUR 30 NE WEDDING BELLS - GODLEY AND CREME Radio Luxembourg got 26 in the top 30 singles in 1981..and they were all great! Infact it was so good that JULIO IGLESIAS got to number 1, 2 weeks before Radio 1! SOFT CELL were all alone in BedSit Land...HAIRCUT 100 had some FAVOURITE SHIRTS..A typical mistake by Mr Tony Blackburn (on Radio One`s top 40) had him say "FAVOURITE SKIRTS"..to which 1 million listeners informed him it was actually SHIRTS! Tony told us it was his one track mind! Christmas was not far away, and if it hadn`t been for the HUMAN LEAGUE later, Cliff would have topped the chart. How we remember the New Year`s Eve party, when we all started to salsa with MODERN ROMANCE, and Flashed back to the days when the nights were young with IMAGINATION...got PHYSICAL with Olivia, and Grooved with EARTH WIND AND FIRE...The JETS sung a 1957 hit by JOHNNY RAY...Personally BLUE RONDO A LA TURK, got me..have a listen: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=n5SFhEQX_iM
November 24, 200816 yr Come on GNR, you can do it! They were No. 1 in my local HMV in Belfast. :cheer:
November 24, 200816 yr If George Sampson gets #39 on the official chart I will be pleased, looks about right for McFly though, it makes me wonder if it be their first single that will miss the top 10
November 24, 200816 yr Dido still top 5. Alesha top 10. :cheer: Britney barely moving up. And I really hope that Madonna doesn't bomb that badly.
November 24, 200816 yr As I am a little lost between soo many charts, can somebody tell me what kind of chart is this one ? What is the name of Madonna's single?

November 24, 200816 yr Physical  wicked video   Yes, as wicked as Diana Ross' video for Muscles, Marty. ;)
November 24, 200816 yr Author Woolies have clearly given up caring and are now just a vehicle for X Factor products...Rhydian at No.1 album, they always sell Leon's singles and I saw Same Difference's single in their today along with 'Hero' of course... why doesn't Simon Cowell just buy them out :arrr: Quite. In Reading today they were stocking McFly in a "special" cheap chart. That consisted of all those you mentioned and the Coldplay CD.
November 24, 200816 yr Yes, as wicked as Diana Ross' video for Muscles, Marty. ;) O0e1Y5FXNWs ;) Wouldn't mind getting physical with her
November 24, 200816 yr I love 1981 - my fave ever year. Good to see Mr David Van Day's Dollar in there at #25 :D Re the Woolworths positions for Killers and GNR (#18 and #19 respectively) I think it may something to do with the problems between the record companies and the EUK wholesalers? I know record companies effectively "buy" their shelf space and chart positions for new releases: I suspect there's little or no communication here at the moment due to these issues? Just my take anyway. Cheers for the chart Dave!
November 24, 200816 yr ig2Q4Ub4TnM   OMD - Joan Of Arc wFaIhDLb_NE Soft Cell - Bedsitter
November 24, 200816 yr Yes Mart!n, Olivia was the original Kylie of the '70s-early 1980's. And to think that video was banned in Asia and certain parts of America in comparison to Kylie's naughtier '90s videos. :kink: Olivia was the original Good Girl Gone Bad. ^_^
