Posted June 11, 200619 yr Christian Broughton in the indie asked: Can you make money and make the world a better place? Does business mix with morality? so what do you think? is there such as thing as an ethical entrepreneur? or are they all fat cats in disguise?
June 12, 200619 yr Doubt it. Jesus said it was almost impossible for a rich man to enter heaven. That´s the part all christians ignore.
June 12, 200619 yr Really? That's a very biased assumption. No, actually christianism was all about selling everything that you have and distribute to the poor people, but bizarrely a lot of people go to churches to pray for god give them more money then they already have.

June 12, 200619 yr Ok, I understand what you're getting at now. I just assumed you were generalising all Christians were extremely pious.. lol....
June 13, 200619 yr Doubt it. Jesus said it was almost impossible for a rich man to enter heaven. That´s the part all christians ignore. You're absolutely right, but just to play devil's advocate - in those days if you had any money it's because you stole it from someone (ie: the tax collectors). If someone today makes a million dollars selling hairpieces at reasonable prices, that's different
June 14, 200619 yr You're absolutely right, but just to play devil's advocate - in those days if you had any money it's because you stole it from someone (ie: the tax collectors). If someone today makes a million dollars selling hairpieces at reasonable prices, that's different  Hmmm... I don´t think that was the meaning of his teachings. The problem itself is not making money, but keeping the money with you... then, the problem with being rich. I would understand if for a materialist person to keep the most money they can, but for someone who honestly believes life has a meaning and we have to love each other, what´s the point of just acumulating money when there are people out there starving? What´s the point having the most expensive clothes, cars, houses, if it´s all about the spirit and we were teached to help each other? If every person in the world was fine, I would understand, but while there are millions starving and dieing it makes no sense for a person to consider himself as a christian and still be very rich...
June 14, 200619 yr Yeah course they can. Bill Gates did give $8 million to charity after all. Yes, Bill Gates gives more money to 3rd world countries then the US Government. What a pity state for the US Governement. You can make money and make the world a better place, but it takes intent by the person or people doing it. The whole ethos of business is to make money and then make more money. That idea is flawed, but while people believe that is the way, then it's going to be a bumpy road.
June 14, 200619 yr Yes, Bill Gates gives more money to 3rd world countries then the US Government. What a pity state for the US Governement. I didn't know THAT, all i knew was he's the man too give most too charity, thats pretty appalling from the US.
June 15, 200619 yr Contrast that to Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft with Bill Gates) who reportedly has at LEAST half a billion dollars in yachts.
