November 29, 200816 yr Are you tired from to many reviews? If not ,here is another: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/music/articl...week/article.do :teresa: ...
November 29, 200816 yr Stern gave 3 out 5 (that is very well known magazine in Germany), which is not bad, but at the same time, while the CD of TT was only discussed in an article with other CD, Britney has got a very big article an fotos and all. So, i don't think TT will make many waves in DE as the promotion of the album is near 10% of Britney. The fans will buy it, the other will not known about it.
November 29, 200816 yr So, i will post here every bit of review, but i have no idea how relevant are this and how influencial : http://uk.real.com/music/blog/2008/11/28/t...that-the-circus . Plase comment :naughty:
November 29, 200816 yr Ouch! http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/da...at-1557208.html I'd already read the Irish Independent one. They really don't like Gary  ! I don't think they liked him the first time round though! I did say a good few posts back that the 'broadsheets' or former broadsheets will in unison HATE anything Take That do! I do believe that even if, what they regard as 'serious musicians' like Coldplay or Snow Patrol wrote 'anonymously' under the name of Take That - they'd hate it! And watch out for reviews from The Guardian, our own Independent and Telegraph .... I'll bet you £100 that they are awful reviews! Norma
November 29, 200816 yr And watch out for reviews from The Guardian, our own Independent and Telegraph .... I'll bet you £100 that they are awful reviews! Norma LOL...you win the bet: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertai...or-1038417.html
November 29, 200816 yr LOL...you win the bet: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertai...or-1038417.html Ha! Ha! Ha! :yahoo: I told you so! They gave Beautiful World an awful review too. I think they gave their concerts bad reviews if I'm not mistaken ... told you - the broadsheets or 'respectables' just HAVE to be different! Now when The Mirror, The Sun, The Mail and The Star start saying that Take That are awful .... the broadsheets will then start saying how brilliant they are! Really ... take no notice of the reviews (either the good ones or the bad ones ... trust your own judgement). Norma
November 29, 200816 yr Joi! thanks for visiting the TT forum! Hope you'll be a regular visitor! Norma Aw! Thanks Norma. I'll do my best. I come by once in a while, but I mostly visit the Dutch forum and (like you) the (ex) official messageboard. Not sure about the new official forum...
November 29, 200816 yr Aw! Thanks Norma. I'll do my best. I come by once in a while, but I mostly visit the Dutch forum and (like you) the (ex) official messageboard. Not sure about the new official forum... Meh, i hate the new forum. That black  . And i don't know which thread is new, with nea posts, etc. Somehow it mellows everything. Not a great design at all. I go once in a while to read something, but to post not so much  ..
November 30, 200816 yr Well Iris! The Sunday Times has blown my theory about broadsheets out of the window. They've given it a fairly good one! I suppose I lose my money on this one! http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol...icle5230681.ece Norma
November 30, 200816 yr But you won with The Observer: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/nov/3...e-circus-review
November 30, 200816 yr But you won with The Observer: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/nov/3...e-circus-review  Told you so. However ... the guy has just typed the minimal, expected Take That 'dissing' (I hate to use that word - but it is true). He hasn't gone into the songs to say what makes each one so bad. My belief .... the guy hasn't even listened to the album. Norma

So, i don't think TT will make many waves in DE as the promotion of the album is near 10% of Britney. The fans will buy it, the other will not known about it. The rating is OK - I'm not bothered with pictures and such when they do reviews - I want to hear what they think of the music - preferably if the reviewer has bothered to listen to the songs (unlike the UK broadsheets). As far as Britney is concerned ... I think her 'performance' on the X-Factor last night proves that she needs all the hype she can get ... she certainly can't do it with talent. My god - all the contestants on the show were better than her last night! And little Miley Cyrus certainly put her to shame. Yes I know she was miming as well but at least she had some sort of dance routine - not just prancing from one side of the stage to the other like Britney. This is going to sound so cynical now ... but if that is all she can do (her singing voice live is pretty bad) I wonder just how much of the last 18 months was staged. Norma
November 30, 200816 yr So, i will post here every bit of review, but i have no idea how relevant are this and how influencial : http://uk.real.com/music/blog/2008/11/28/t...that-the-circus . Plase comment :naughty: I loved this review - especially this part: Saying you dislike Take That in their new-and-improved formation is a bit like saying you don’t like Thumper or Bambi: plain wrong. After all, Gary’s lost all that weight and kept it off, so the least you could do is give the guy a break, right? The second long-player from the revamped Fab Four sees them evolve from pert comeback Beautiful World, spinning their sound to a whole new grown-up level, replete with four lead singers, strings, sha-la-la-laaas aplenty and no little amount of joie de vive. With The Circus, it seems that Take That have flexed their ample musical muscle and proven that they’re no pop clowns… ... Review continues Norma
November 30, 200816 yr Well, the buyer in UK don't seem bothered from the bad reviews! If they bought Beutiful world, they maybe will buy also The Circus... One problem is that they must have a very strong appearance with the second single, as they will be not at the Brits this time for any award (does RTW qualify for 2009 awards?) Tha album is to late, no live shows, and I don't think they will be nominated for Greatest Day. The only solution is TT to sing live at the brits, but are too many acts who will want that  . But you know what is funny? We think now, on this album is no Shine, no Patience, No RTW. But didn't people think that about Beautiful world that is no Back for good or Never Forget? I bet at the third album they will say that is no Up all night or Greatest Day . I like that they had the courage to evolve, to change, to do something different... I will get borred to have always songs like Patience or Shine. If somebody says this song is the next Patience, is for me already a bad sign, as it seems that TT repeat in sound. This evolving may not be on everyboy taste and is good like that. But they show personality on this album and are not so cautious as they were on Beautiful World. I like the album, i see also a couple of its flaws and what can they do better in future. I am already dead curious what the third album will be! :naughty: . I am very curious what kind of reviews has Elvis or Queen at their time, not now when they are legends, from this very elevated magazines. Or Back for good, for example :naughty:
November 30, 200816 yr But you know what is funny? We think now, on this album is no Shine, no Patience, No RTW. But didn't people think that about Beautiful world that is no Back for good or Never Forget? I bet at the third album they will say that is no Up all night or Greatest Day . You're absolutely right! One of the current reviews said (of The Circus) that there was no Patience or Rule The World - but as you've pointed out they said the same thing with Beautiful World (mentioning earlier hits). I think most people in the UK don't bother with reviews - they buy an album if they like the artist or they liked the last thing they remember from them (in this case RTW). People do know that newspapers these days are lazy - and they don't listen to the records they review (not just Take That - I read some unfair Coldplay reviews - and I've just discovered that their last album was great!) I'm sure the job of 'album reviewer' is seen by the broadsheets as being the equivalent of a sports reporter being given the 50 kilometre walk to cover in the Olympics! They don't take it seriously anyway. I am always interested to know what the actual music papers say about an album which is why for me ... the Q review was the one most interesting - even though it gave only three out of five stars (and I agreed with a lot of what the reviewer said about the lyrics anyway). And I was pleased as punch with the NME one! Ten years ago they'd never have a good word to say about Take That! Norma
November 30, 200816 yr i bought the special edition and the pictures in it are amazing.. love em.. really nice package-looks like a book.. the album i gues sis even better than beautiful world.. so many great songs, i think the garden is one of their alltime best songs.. amazing.. great ballads and great uptempo songs.. (mark sounds amazing)
November 30, 200816 yr reviews never have any decision whether i but an album or not take that albums i buy anyhow but with bands that i dont folow in a big way i wait for the 2nd single and then i know if i want the album or not
December 1, 200816 yr Can the Guardian make up its mind about the Circus ? http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/200...brity-take-that LOL!!!!
December 1, 200816 yr Can the Guardian make up its mind about the Circus ? http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/200...brity-take-that LOL!!!! Thanks Iris! I see what you mean about the Guardian - one brilliant review and one bad review ... from the same paper! That paper has never been any good since they moved the head office away from Manchester!
