November 27, 200816 yr Thanks Dave! I don't understand how Miles Away got so high on this chart, and is flopping so badly on the midweeks though. Guess it's downloads like you say. Edited November 27, 200816 yr by TomKay
November 27, 200816 yr Author Thanks Dave! I don't understand how Miles Away got so high on this chart, and is flopping so badly on the midweeks though. Guess it's downloads like you say. I was also bemused on Madonna, Tom. On the apparent pre-orders (which must have been virtually all physical), she entered at 10, a few weeks back...then plummeted to 17, then 29...then apparently shot up again to 8, and that threw me completely. I guess pre-order blunders were to blame, and it should not have been that high in the first place. I know dropping songs, pushes other releases higher but not nearly 30 places! I mean she has only reached 9, on physicals so far this week!
November 27, 200816 yr TBH Dave I think it shows how downloads being allowed in the chart are a mixed blessing. It can give good songs added longevity, but that can also result in new releases being pushed to the bottom of the pile, especially if an artist's last song was a big hit. I'm also in two minds about the random reappearances of old songs that happen from time to time. Bellamy Brothers - Let Your Love Flow is great, and it's well deserved, as it's a somewhat forgotten song by an artist that hasn't had many UK hits, but Faith Hill - There You'll Be was random as anything. And don't get me started on Nickelback - Rockstar... Edited November 27, 200816 yr by TomKay
