Remember Woolworth's putting the nail in Gary Barlow's solo career when they announced that they were refusing to stock his second album?

Somehow it seems like justice when the new Take That are the biggest act in Britain and Woollies is the one who now stands on the edge of survival and Universal take back 300,000 copies of Take That's new album from Entertainment UK - leaving Woolies without stock!

Yeah but they've spoilt it for Take That achieving any records with the distributing arm going to the wall. Most shops will be without the album until the end of the week. So although The Circus did well yesterday ... it'll barely sell much more until the stock issue is dealt with. I'd say by the end of the week they'll manage 225,000 maximum.

Having said that ... I'm sure Barlow wouldn't be thinking about revenge anyway ... not when you think of the number of job losses that are entailed with this Woollies thing!

Wwell it is sad that woolies is looking like going out of business as i always find when im in england its part of the heritaget there but doesnt it just show what goes around comes around,,gary got such $h!t that time when his 2nd album went wrong and at the time it was like everyone was having a pop at him,all i can say is what goes around comes around really

12 months 11 days in no way deserved what it got its an album i still love to this day and had it been a take that album it would be huge,i personnaly think its a better album than most of take thats albums including the circus,,i loved 12 months 11 days on first hearing

In hindsight it does appear to me that the only reason the 'big wigs' at Woollies decided to not stock the album was to keep in fashion with what was going on at the time. There can be no justification to 'not stock' an album - it was purely something done for fun on their part - it did seem after all that everyone (largely the media and Robbie Williams) had immense fun at Barlow's expense. Having said that ... it was hardly the shopfloor workers or admin staff that will have had any say in it - yet its them that will suffer. You can bet your life the ones at the top at Woollies will still find themselves having a 'merry little Christmas'.

Oh yes I agree. He wouldn't want "revenge" as such. Yes it messed up first week sales, but second week should do better than the first as stock issues get sorted out and getting nearer Christmas and TT come to Town, plus all the publicity about the album selling well.

Yep. I am sure it was unprecedented for Woolies not to stock an album by an artist whose previous and recent album was number one. Plus there was even Radio Two who banned Gary Barlow from their airwaves. I really wish Take That would record Lie to Me as a single sometime. I'm sure it would be a number one. I also thought Yesterday's Girl was a stroke of genius, although I thought the choice of single releases was not good.
