Posted December 3, 200816 yr hahaha im joking Circus Comes to Town and Is Ready to Climb Above 450k December 3, 2008 Britney might not want to call her latest release a comeback, but whatever you dub it, her new Jive/ZLG album Circus is soaring past all expectations. Thanks to a barrage of good publicity for a change, the pop star, who just celebrated her 27 th birthday yesterday with a performance on ABC’s Good Morning America, will debut at #1 on next week’s HITS Album Sales chart with a total that seems to be in excess of 450k, and very capable of climbing even higher. First-day sales were brisk for the album, coming on the heels of MTV’s highly rated documentary, Britney: For the Record, a Rolling Stone cover story and surprisingly rave reviews. Hey, the media owes her. With initial guesstimates in the 350k range, Spears appears to be blowing away the pundits' first-week predictions. Based on first day sales reports, the album seems poised to top the recent first week total of the current #1, Kanye West, and, possibly, even Beyonce. Meanwhile SRC/Universal Motown’s Akon, fresh off a hit single, will be the next highest debut of the week in the 80-90k range, while Asylum rapper (and one-time Geto Boy) Scarface looks to scare up some 30-40k in sales. The market was up 29% vs. last week, thanks to Black Friday, basically flat vs. the same week last year and still down 14% year to date. December 3, 200816 yr How rude i actually thought it was 150k then lol but sounds amazing, I have a feeling it will drop like blackout did though...
December 3, 200816 yr Blackout had no promo though, so it was only normal for it to drop quickly after fans bought it.
December 3, 200816 yr Author now putting cherry on top of the cake :) Britney Spears' sixth studio album, "Circus," is on track to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 next week, as the Jive set will lead Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart when it is released later today (Dec. 3). Unweighted first-day sales of "Circus" through the close of business yesterday stood at 219,000. Billboard estimates the eight merchants who report to Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart -- Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Circuit City, iTunes, Starbucks, Borders, Target and Anderson Merchandisers -- comprise about 80% of all U.S. album sales. Sources close to the project suggest that "Circus" could move as much as 400,000 in its first week. If "Circus" arrives atop the tally, it will be Spears' fifth No. 1 album. Among female artists, only four have racked up more chart-toppers: Barbra Streisand (eight), Madonna (seven) and Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson (both with six). Spears' last release, 2007's "Blackout," bowed at No. 2 with 290,000 behind the debut of Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden" (711,000).
December 3, 200816 yr Author 219k in first day in 80% stores :o anyway why they are bull$h!ting ...219k in first day and it could sell only 400k...thats ridiculious...taylor swift did 217k first day and she ended 590k...im not saying she will reach the same figure but 400k is just too low comparing 219k in first day.
December 3, 200816 yr we'll see this time next week (or sooner) the official first week numbers :D very exciting :w00t:

It's not really. Didn't Blackout sell 129 first day then only sold 290k for the week? It could be a case of everyone getting it the first day. Hopefully not though
December 4, 200816 yr It should be a lot higher! I still have to go out and buy my album tonight! First day sales are awesome though! :o I hope it can sell above 450k!!
December 5, 200816 yr It will definitely debut at #1. I wish TT would release next week. She'd only be #3 without them there anyway, it makes little difference in fairness...
December 5, 200816 yr ow i hope 500k.....that would be a dream come true...and make up for the uk missing top 3
December 5, 200816 yr Meh I couldn't care less about it not being #1 in the UK. EVERYONE is talking about her in America, and about how good her album is. I'm in f***ing heaven.
