When bands split, or members leave they sometimes go on to form new bands or have solo careers.

 

What bands formed good follow up bands or solo performers?

 

For me one of the best was the Yardbirds. Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck & Jimmy Page.

 

They went on to form Cream, Blind Faith, Led Zeppelin etc.

 

 

Any other great bands that spawned other great bands?

you can add renaisance to that too bri... ('northern lights') not rock but hey ho!

deep purples geneology is possibly the largest of mainstream bands
