I cant stand swing music so doesnt matter who would release it id hate ,i hav eneve rbeen a huge robbie fan but i bought his greatest hits and excapology album and i like many songs of both for me i prefer take thats style of music especially song like patience and the fantastic rule the world

I have no objection to certain swing songs but they have to be in the right setting and with the right singer. The setting being a dead smoky club with a fifty-odd year old bloke, cigarette in one hand and scotch on the rocks in the other!

I love swing. Loved Robbie in the Albert Hall. I even bought the DVD

And I am not really a Robbie fan...

Thank you for replies. I don't sing well and have a limited vocal range. I only sing for my fiance, but my best hope of carrying a song is to write my own and swing seems to fit my voice best. It's a new direction I'm going in. But I do write other forms too. Really the songs write themselves. I don't know where it comes from.

What about a nice bit of Country and Western! Honestly ... there are one or two good songs in that genre (a few years back I wouldn't believed I'd have said that). Dean Martin even did a couple of good C&W songs.

I actually like quite a few country artists ... Dolly Parton and Shania Twain spring immediately to mind at the moment. I used to know loads of them from the 70's but didn't like them at the time - the tragedy of having a dad who hogged the 'stereogram'.
