It's great that there is a back-up but few people seem to bother. It's been so long since we used it, I couldn't remember my password.

I should be at work but there are no buses because of the snow, so I'm enjoying a day off Yay!

You've had a lot of snow, we've come off lightly in comparison. Sue

It's been snowing a bit here but it's not lying.

I'm pleased to say that our council had obviously had all its gritting teams out last night. They'd gritted the pavements as well as the roads.

Yeah i'm glad this site is back up too, missed it yesturday :( !I dont really like the 'back-up' 1 at all

But it's good that we have somewhere to go especially if there was something to talk about....which unfortunately we don't at the moment

The kids had a day of school and 10 inches of snow to play in. pics have been taken and I'll see it when I get home. Here the taxis were refusing to come out. The roads were very slippy. i have ABS and it kept coming on. As long as i went slowly and allowed a lot of stopping space, I was OK. Clearing the cafr of snow was quite a feat this evening. It looked weird with piles of sn ow left on the bonnet. It's turned to sleet at the moment so I'm hoping it's better tomorrow. It's been nothing like asbad as the South though.
There are buses today, so I shall try to get into work.

We only had a covering and we live on a bus route so our roads are usually salted.

My daughter wasn't so lucky.

They got 4 inches. She lives on a hill and it's not on a bus route.

As she turned to go into her drive, after work, she slid down the hill just missing an on-coming car and stop just infront of a tree :o

Shook her up a bit.....but it could have been worse.

I hope your daughter has recovered from the shock. I think near misses shake me even more than a bump does.

When one has a bump one has to get out of the car and start exchanging details - that gives you a little time to compose yourself and get the thing into proportion.

The thoughts after a near miss are more negative, thinking about the what if and usually about the worst possible outcome

I should be eating breakfast and heading to see Meg.......sorry Meg but you should know me well by now.....
I'm glad your Daughter is ok Pam(hug),that must of been so scary for her :o .I agree with Baytree, near misses shock you up even more!

I have to go out locally to do a lot of silly little things. It's hard to motivate myself for that. However, it's dry and not too cold today, so I can tell myself it may not be as good tomorrow. Maybe that will shift me.

Glad your daughter is safe Pam. We've been really lucky here with regards to the snow, hardly any at all. Sue
A family member driving in canada skidded on ice and went onto the other carriagway under a large van. The police said that his only fault was being inexperienced as he's only had his license for a couple of months. the road conditions were dreadful. the van driver is OK but the boy also in the car is very seriously injured and on life support. A nightmare all parents can elate to I think. The poor van driver must have been really shocked as well.

I'm sad to hear that, megham.

I've never been to Canada in the winter. The pictures are enough to put me off. However they have to live through the conditions, taking all precautions and then just getting out there and driving, because the distances between places are huge.

I suppose accidents are inevitable.

I wouldn't go to Canada in the winter, it's far too cold. Temperatures of -25, -30 are not for me.
