I've just got her to bed. She's really tired today. She wants to be well NOW - but that's not the way it goes. She can speak well now which is a great bonus she's just impatient - as we all would be in her position.
Your Mum's done really well to make the progress she has Meg, but it's completely understandable the way she's feeling. It's so hard to be patient! Sue
Mum's sight and hearing have been made worse but not impossible. She just has no sense of balance and a lot of problems understanding things which aren't put into small, simple sentences. Since she's one of the most intelligent people I've known and she's aware that she's just not catching the meaning of things, it is very hard for her. This time it's her right side and the area of her brain for short term memory, understanding and movement. She's incredible to have got this far from not being able to move or speak. She just can't wait to get better. Being waited on is not her idea of fun. Not being able to do things is her idea of hell.
Poor Dane, what a horrible experience for him. Glad your mum is slowly improving. I can understand her impatience.

Me too. It's much better than the brain scan showed it'd be though, even though there have been two more strokes since then. The strokes are enough to worry about. I'm not even thinking about them not being able to treat her cancer and, luckily, neither is she.

Dane's doing well, just even more timid and nervous.

I'm glad your Mum is making such good progress, Meg.

Poor Dane. It will have upset his self-confidence. But it could have been much worse........ you could have been

bitten as well.

Must be very worrying. Give her my love.
The strokes came 2 wks after her mastectomy. She's too ill for further treatment but the cancer cells have spread through her body.
It's just taking longer to get her up and about as something else happens as soon as we make progress. I've put her back to bed now but I'll start on the walking again when she wakes.

Sounds like heavy work. Take care not to strain yourself; do you have help lifting your Mum ? I hope the nurse or someone

is coming in to help or you will be tired out and unable to look after her.

It's so hard Meg, but they are our parents and we love them, and I know you wouldn't want it any other way. I looked afer my mum for two years, she had leukaemia, and you don't realise just what it takes out of you. Sue
I think I do after 4 and a half years with my father-in-law. We don't get any help with my Mum either - except the Stroke nuse coming to talk with her once a fortnight. I do love my Mum far more than my father-in-law which makes some things easier.
