I haven't seen the film. You use the virtual memory when you save things or work on them. It's not large enough for the work Dave's doing at the moment. It's one area you don't notice until it wont work.

My new dentist is great. I hadn't seen one for about 10 yrs and he didn't find anything to do. I like a dentist who doesn't do anything.

To increase virtual memory go to control panel

click on administrative tools

click on Computer management

On the left hand side you should see Computer management (local)

right click and click on properties

click on the advanced tab

Where it says performance, click on settings

Where it says Virtual Memory, click on change

Choose custom size and change the MB

Not sure exactly how much you can use but the initial is usually half of the maximum

hope that helps

Would that help with an annoyingly slow computer which has oodles of free space, Nina. Might it need more virtual memory?
Have you cleaned it up recently, BT. If your files are split then that would slow it down. Defragging will put the file in one place. Nina is in or on her way to New York.
Just adding, if there is a virtual memory problem it'll tell you. Not enough RAM and split files and a not indexed disc cause more problems.

BT, it sounds as if your computer needs more RAM

I have the same problem on my main computer and will have to buy more RAM for it.

Off to the airport in a few hours

We've just spent 4th July in Disney's Magic Kingdom....the fire works were spectacular!!

The park was heaving....which I realised it would be but didn't want to miss it.

We also went into the Hall of Presidents.....which has just re-opened....it was very good.

I should be having a shower and going to bed

Sounds great, Pam. The people 3 houses down celebrated by letting off the loudest fireworks I've ever heard at midnight. The dog and mum were woken up.
We just arrived in time to see the 4th July fireworks in New Jersey. Literally didn't even have time to unload the car, just ran to catch the train. It was worth it, the fireworks are amazing. Haven't managed to sleep however.
That's so unusual, Nina. It means you didn't dream either though. I bet it was spectacular. Have fun.

thanks Meg

Did you sort out your virtual memory?

Enjoy!

I haven't had breakfast yet, just waiting for Claire to get ready. I'm starving.
