Avril Lavigne has reportedly fired her manager in a bid to improve her record sales.

The Canadian singer's last album, The Best Damn Thing sold around 5.4 million copies worldwide, which was a significant drop from the 8 million copies that previous offering Under My Skin shifted.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton revealed that Lavigne has now ditched long-time manager Terry McBride in an attempt to boost her career prospects.

A source is quoted as saying: "Avril is hoping that new management can help her new album be more successful than the last."

Lavigne has apparently hired Irving Azoff , whose management company's clients include Christina Aguilera, the Eagles and Guns N' Roses.

The next album just needs to be more like the first 2 unlike The Best Damn Thing which was just un-original and felt like she was copying everyone else around at the time.

5.4 Million copies is dreadful, It was only the fourth biggest selling album of 2007 as well. :P

Actually I have to admit The Best Damn Thing wasn't a patch on the Godly Under My Skin. I really hope her fourth album is better :)
