I voted Shine (even though it ain't my favourite Take That song by far). It is better than Greatest Day for one reason ... it has a chorus! A song needs a chorus dammit! Gary .... what were you all thinking?

Well us Take That fans are honest - and not touchy at all! Even though Gaz is my favourite - I can appreciate when one song is better than another! Having said that ... if you'd have asked which was better - Patience or Shine .... it would definitely be Patience .... the best song from this time round (yes ... even better than RTW).

They've been playing quite a bit of the new album on Smooth Radio in the last few days ... and I'm horrified to say that they've been playing Julie and Hello more than most. I sincerely hope that this isn't a prediction of the next release ... because Julie is just - plain bloody awful!!!!! The next single HAS TO BE Up All Night .... please ... Polydor ... listen! No Julie or Hello!

up all night i agree has to be the next single and they are crazy if it isnt

i love patience and shine and they go in rounds as in which i prefer it depends on my mood although rule the world is miles ahed of both for me,,greatest day is a nioce song but i agree with you norma it doesnt have a chorus,,greatest day is doing alot better than i thought i think its sales are about 150k at the moment so it will pass 200,00 easily but i dont think it wil loutsell shine and it certianly wont come near patience or rulr the world,,however i could see up all night if it is the 2nd single outselling greatest day

To be honest I don't really care about the sales of Greatest Day ... it is no way one of their best songs ... but I'm so looking forward to hearing it sung at a stadium as a first, opening song! I just SO HOPE that on the tour they sing 'She Said' - this has got to be my favourite Take That song of recent times ... simple, short ... and for once ... Gary sings an upbeat number and actually sounds as if he's enjoying himself!!! This is the Gary I want to see ... not the ballardeer!

On the Royal Variety Performance ... I have to say ... John Barrowman did a pretty good job of Gary's song ... even if it was one that Gary just 'threw aside'.

Norma

i switched over when take that finished so i didnt see it

Barrowman was on before Take That ... you probably went off to make a cup of tea!

Shine is brilliant! Made me a TT fan. Also it has introduced me to Mark's solo music, which is still after more than a year on first place in my chart!

So i am very grateful to this song :yahoo: .

I have nothing against Gratest Day that it has no chorus. But i am not soo keen on the orchestration... Far better songs on the album for me. I think The Garden would have been a far better first single and I wish as a second Up all nigh and as third Hold up a light :yahoo: (but i will remain with the wish, Mark has never done as lead two songs as singles one after the other). It remains the hope that he will sing that on the tour and will be on the DVD... :( . But like with "We all fall down", not so many chances ...

great to see someone else love shine like i do its such a happy uplifting song,,i wanted shine to win this round and hoped it would but i didnt expect to be an outright winner and im a little surprised great day still has no votes

I'm so hoping Up All Night is the next single! Then we can have a thread in a few months time asking 'which do you prefer? Up All Night or Shine' - I'll be voting for UAN!

Please, please, please don't release Julie!!!!!! From mildly disliking it ... I hate it now!

Norma

So far everyone i see posting about TT thinks that Up All Night should be the next single and it's the best track on the album. I quite agree too.

Not too keen on both GD and Shine, but i prefer Shine much more though.

Up All Night is definitely the best, very, very closely followed by the hidden track ... She Said. There are a couple of songs on the album worse than Greatest Day though!

Norma

Greatest day is among the weakest songs on the album certyainly not the strongest

After listening to the album several times now .... here is my rating from 1st favourite down to least favourite:

Up All Night

She Said (hidden track)

The Circus - I would have had this far and away the best song but it would be unfair as none of the others sing on it.

Said It All

The Garden

Greatest Day

You

How Did It Come To This

Here

What Is Love

Hold Up A Light

Julie

Hello

Deliberate space left between Hold Up A Light - as Julie and Hello are just bloody awful.

Norma

For me Julie and Hello are great songs! I love them both! Julie more when i am alone but still a fantastic song with so much heart and great harmonies at the end... Very powerful indeed... :yahoo:

Well, mine are like that:

Up all night

Hold up a light

She said

Hello

Here

Julie

Said it all

The Garten

You

How did it come to this

Greatest Day

What is love

The Circus

The first 8 I hardly skip and i love them, so 8 out 13 is very very good for me! :w00t: I still give the album 7/10 because the lyrics doesn't impress me apart from 5 songs and the music is sometimes too drowned in violins for me liking.

:) I've listened to Julie about five times now and Hello the same. I now skip those tracks all the time. Julie sound like it was written by some love-lorn, pimply sixth-former and in short (IMO) is c**p. Hello is a tiny bit better - at least it has a little jolly ELOesque qualities. Friends who I have recently converted to Take That usually agree about Julie - they HATE it! More tracks like Julie and Hello - and I wouldn't have bothered buying the album to be honest.

But that is the beauty of life ... everyone's choices are different!

The Circus ... I've been listening to this track a lot lately. I try to turn myself off from the fact that it has Take That's name to it. Even Gary Barlow's. I just imagine it from a lavish, West End or Broadway musical. Its such a professionally, well-constructed song ... or rather piece of music - as I could listen to this piece without any vocal on it at all. Its the kind of thing Andrew Lloyd Webber used to write (long ago ... when he was good).
