It seem's that Kate is getting more movie nomination's for her roles in Revolutionary Road and The Reader. There's alot of oscar hype surronding both films.

What do you think of Kate, and do you think that she is finally going to win an Oscar award? She's been nominated five times for actress awards at the Oscar's but has yet to win one..

i love Kate Winslet

i have her single :kink:

An absolutely superb actress, the best actress Britain has produced since Helen Mirren... Compared to her, the likes of Keira Knightely and Sienna Millar are NOTHING..... She should've had an Oscar by now for her amazing performance in "Little Children"... And it wasn't her fault that "Titanic" was cr@p....

Dunno about an Oscar next year though, she's gonna be up against an incredibly formidable performance from Angelina Jolie, who was nothing short of fukkin' STAGGERING in "Changeling".....

Im not too sure on Kate Winslet.. The only film ive seen her in is Titanic so i guess i dont have much to go on. Ive heard though that her latest film is really good??

If that's all you've seen of her, I can understand why you're not sure about her... She was cr@p in that film, mind you, even Helen Mirren or Meryl Streep would've struggled with the absolute fukkin' AWFULNESS of that script..... Yeah, great, spend 200 million on the FX and about ten bucks on developing the script....

If you want to see the divine Ms Winslett in something decent, I would check out some of the following, "Little Children", "Finding Neverland", "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", "Heavenly Creatures", "Quills", "Hamlet" or "Jude".... The Reader does looks excellent though....

Big big fan, she's in my top two fave actresses (British category/overall :P), Helen Mirren being my number one ;) I can't stand the likes of Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley. Helen and Kate completely outclass those two in every way you can imagine.

I'm really hoping Kate will pick up an Oscar this year, then again Meryl Streep is very worthy yet again [another fave!]. As is Angelina. I wouldn't want to be a voting, I'd have a very hard time choosing between them!

Revolutionary Road with Leonardo DiCaprio looks amazing too!!! I was watching Film 2008 last night and they showed a preview of the film and i was left :o Not usually my type of film but i will be watching.

I loved her "What If" song and im OBESSED with Titanic so yeah i love her <3

looks good tho some have given it slightly average reviews for trying to hard to be an academy pleaser too much..

of those films i would recomemd "Little Children" first (never got round to watching quills yet) and then "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" if you've got the director label dvd to hand to watch after wards...

She is the $h!t in all honesty. The likes of Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller? LOLZ pure fluff in comparison.

Looking hopeful for an Oscar this year. How on earth she missed out for the performance in 'Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind' is BEYONDDDD me. One of my favourite films ever. She even made Jim Carey seem ok.

I doubt Angelia will win the Oscar considering Changeling was not recieved very well by critics. While you're supposed to separate an actress from the movie as a whole, I can't see Angelina winning for a film that currently has a 59% on Rotten Tomatoes. Kate Winslet seems like the obvious choice at this point (Meryl is getting tons of nominations but doesn't seem to be winning any of them).

I still need to see Doubt / Revolutionary Road though. Both look quite good.

Having seen "The Reader", and also with "Revolutionary Road", I really do believe that she finally has to win, I just have this awful feeling that the Americans will honour one of their own.... I'm surprised by the Rotten Tomatoes rating tbh, on IMDb, it's got 8/10, and I personally found it to be a very good film.... Dunno quite what problems the critics have with it tbh, it's very well written, acted and directed, excellent drama IMO.... The Reader, however, does have more of an edge to it though, as great a performance as it is, it's easy to sympathise with Angelina Jolie's character in Changeling, but considerably more difficult for an actress to illicit sympathy for a war criminal, but Kate actually manages to achieve this, so that puts her ahead of Angelina for me; Kate had by far the more difficult job to pull off, she did so quite superbly with an utterly flawless performance, and The Reader takes you on a much greater emotional journey, you should absolutely hate the character Kate plays, but you somehow end up not hating her, so she should get the Oscar, and a BAFTA too.....

Kate, is indeed, 'the sh"t'...... The finest actress of her generation. By several country miles, Keira and Sienna just cant touch her....

I didn't think Titanic was that bad. ;)

Kate Winslet is my favourite British actress. In that category are also Emma Thompson and Juliet Stevenson.

I also liked Kate in Sense and Sensibility (1995), Hideous Kinky (1998) and Holy Smoke (1999). Oh, and I adored The Holiday. Kate can do anything from lightweight romantic comedy to totally messed up.

Maybe she'll get that Oscar this year, although I think Angelina is going to pip her. I'd say a BAFTA is almost guaranteed as she's got two noms in the Best Actress category.

Lastly, I also bought What If - love the song and Kate's got a beautiful voice. Maybe she'll be in a musical film some time.

I'd love to see her in a Musical. Didn't she turn down Chicago though?

Very good performances from Kate. I saw The Reader a couple weeks ago but looking forward to Revolutionary Road when she teams up again with Leonardo DiCaprio :yahoo:
