You should've put on the Melofestivian album (or whatever it is) so no-one has a clue what they're listening to :P

I'm surprised GA aren't higher, they seemed to dominate your chart in the last month or so.

10. Maria Haukaas Storeng and Mira Craig - Mine All Mine

Full Chart Run: 9-6-6-9-3-6-7-12-18-25-35-40-41-44

Maria stood out hugely at Eurovision, and not only because of her breasts...the brilliant Norwegian singer's Hold On Be Strong led me to look into her album, which I had heard was a 60's pop/soul tribute a la Duffy. The first time I put the album on, this pop stormer stood out instantly. Mira Craig, another Norwegian singer has a fine low range voice which complements Maria's higher voice perfectly (she even trills Mariah style towards the end of the track), and you really feel that they are the best of friends on this track. A great fun pop song, my most listened to song of 2008 by a mile, and one that I will be listening too for years to come, the only thing I regret is only peaking it at No.3 in my chart.

9. Boyzone - Love You Anyway

Full Chart Run: 36-25-10-5-1-1-1-2-4-8-11-18-19-25-33

A Boyzone comeback is not something that filled me with joy when I first heard about it I must admit, seeming more like a money making exercise than anything else. What I hadn't banked on is that their comeback single would be one of 2008's finer pure cheesy pop singles. An absolute gem of a track complete with Ronan on lead, the 'Boyz' in the background and an incredibly cringey video made this an unexpected three week chart topper for me in the autumn and gave them one of their most well deserved UK top five hits out of the seventeen in a row that they achieved!

we're only allowed to play albums in the chart, so that people can buy it should they wish to :P It was funny to see how many customers were singing along to the Boyzone tracks though :heehee: especially Picture Of You!

GA are a bit low I suppose but I do prefer the other 9 albums to Out Of Control...although it is very recent so had less time to climb up my album of the year chart than the others

I thought Mine All Mine could have actually been your #1 of the year, anyway great track and a shame i wasnt in BJSC at the time to vote for it.

Love You Anyway doesnt sound so bad as it did a few months back but i still find it rather :puke2: Better is  though

:o You've put your money on Leona. I forgot :( How much btw :o

up until about a month ago, it was actually about #20 in my YTD charts because of its terrible chart run, but then I thought 'no, this is my most played song of the year, it has to be top ten...I do still prefer the 8 songs still to come over it though, and Love You Anyway :kink:

£10  I could have won £170 if she was #2

watch her go back up to No.2 now :heehee:

How unfair :heehee: Do they have odds for 1st week after Xmas chart?

4. Gabriella Cilmi - Lessons To Be Learned

Full Chart Run: 5-2-2-3-3-2-4-6-7-1-4-6-6-8-4-5-7-7-9-12-13-13-12-15-16-17-17-18-18-17-17-15-6

Now this album was a surprise...when Australian singer Gabriella first arrived in our charts, I confess to taking no notice of Sweet About Me. It is the week that it re-entered the top 40 that I started to listen to it and it began to move up my chart. Then after many good reviews of it here on Buzzjack I decided to invest in it on my birthday with some of my gift money. I bought 6 other albums that day and never did I imagine that this would be by far the one that I liked the best. A fantastic collection of pure Xenomania pop like Don't Wanna Go To Bed Now and Save The Lies, 60's midtempo soulpop like Sweet About Me and Got No Place To Go and on the new version, the best new xmas song in years! It was on its tenth week on the chart that I realised what a mistake it would have been if this hadn't been a No.1 album on my chart! I do hope that she is not a one era wonder and that she returns bigger and better next time!

somehow, I don't think they have them :heehee:

Gabriella  I was one of very few that actually charted Sweet About Me originally all the way back in Feburary. Bought the ablum and didnt really think much of it but wow did it grown on me, should finish in my top 5 end of year albums.

8. Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me

Full Chart Run: 25-24-13-16-17-13-8-3-2-2-4-7-6-9-10-13-19-24-30-41

Like I just said, I didn't take any notice of this at first but similar to the UK's reaction to the track, it very slowly grew on me more and more each week (apart from a slight blip for two weeks near the beginning of its chart run) and it ended up way up at No.2 in my chart and managed nine weeks in my top ten. A truly excellent pop track, it would have fallen completely under the UK radar and most likely my radar if not for the Sure advert that it featured on. One of the most overplayed tracks of the year on the radio, but deservedly so, as it is a fantastic pop track from a girl with a surprisingly great and developed voice bearing in mind that she is only 17!

7. Alphabeat - Fascination

Full Chart Run: 30-5-3-3-2-2-4-9-9-9-16-13-18-20-13-4-9-12-20-29-41

A very instant hit with me, this went straight into my chart at the beginning of the year and went on to spend 11 weeks inside the top ten, very impressive for a No.2 peaking single! The fantastic Danish pop band instantly won me over with this catchy as hell pop track that is surely one of 2008's signature tracks! The rather odd rebound to the top five in its chart run was due to me seeing the band live in Brighton in late April. I was in the front row and I absolutely loved it, one of the best live acts I've ever seen, a fantastic energy and this song was by far the highlight of the set!

6. Rihanna - Disturbia

Full Chart Run: 17-13-22-36-44-OUT-47-15-1-1-4-3-6-4-3-2-5-6-10-14-23-31-44

Rihanna I despised up until Unfaithful which I thought was beautiful, but would have been better had she not been singing it. I wasn't even a huge fan of Umbrella when it came out, but then everything changed on Shut Up & Drive, which I thought sampled New Order excellently. I invested in her album twice, and I was very pleased that I did the second time because it featured this absolute gem of a track. Like a mish mash of all of 2008's best R&B and Eiffel 65's Blue (Da Ba Dee), Disturbia eventually reached No.1 for me, after a slow start and spent 11 weeks inside the top ten in total. Her best single to date, by a country mile, and the only one that's come close to the top of my chart after a load of No.4's and 5's!

I can't believe I ignored it, I just had it down as a flop Winehouse copycat so didn't bother to take any notice of her until she was shoved in my face by the adverts :heehee:
