February 4, 200916 yr Lamph & Roisin Dubh - Chead a mhile lies Ireland first song available. I try to search it but i can't. WTF LOL
February 4, 200916 yr Author Oh dear. English translation: "One Hundred Thousand Lies" - I think. My Irish was never fantastic :P I don't know why "lies" wasn't translated, maybe the song is a mix of Irish and English.
February 4, 200916 yr It is. Actually the song is called Roisin Dubh, Chead a mhile lies is the old title. Not bad, quite 90s sounding :) VvvBPr4nIvo
February 4, 200916 yr Author :cheer: I really like it! The video needs a bit of work, but the song is very 90s, like you say. :yahoo: If you go to the youtube page, Lamph have supplied a download link for the song :D EDIT: Apparently, it's not in the Eurosong final yet, but it is being considered for the final 30, and then they'll choose the six after that =) Edited February 4, 200916 yr by Cal★
February 4, 200916 yr Author More more more! But they're not as good as Lamph :( The Cowmen - "Serious Water" ADm9vDbgxGE Lauren White - "A New Way to Fly" LlpHGMppugM ___ I hope to jebus Lamph get through instead of those two :(
February 5, 200916 yr That Roisin Dubh song is awful! I seriously hope Leona Daly can come up with something better than that...
February 5, 200916 yr Author Another entry... qDg_HanDfgo Epic fail if it gets picked for Eurosong...
February 5, 200916 yr Author The six songs have been shortlisted, apparently. But they won't be released until early next week.
February 6, 200916 yr From rté: OH DEAR GOD. Please will a performer with ACTUAL talent please enter. And no ballads. I HATE BALLADS. Discuss. And take a cookie :) So you hate ballads. It could be far worse. You could end up with rubbish like the UK has had for the past 5 or 6 years.
February 6, 200916 yr Author So you hate ballads. It could be far worse. You could end up with rubbish like the UK has had for the past 5 or 6 years. We've had appalling ballads in recent years, IMO. It's made me go off them completely. :P

February 13, 200916 yr It'd be odd if Greece and Ireland had the same name of the song :heehee: But the probability of this happening is 1/18 :o Edited February 13, 200916 yr by Pavel
February 13, 200916 yr Not all that high then. Et Cetera is co-written by the guys that wrote Someday for Hera Bjork in Denmark... Should be interesting!
February 13, 200916 yr Author Sinead Mulvey is a good singer. Her song on her MySpace is quite good! I'm not surprised that only two of the finalists are from Ireland. Three from Northern Ireland, and one from Latvia. I can't wait until the samples are released, though.
February 14, 200916 yr Sinead Mulvey is a good singer. Her song on her MySpace is quite good! I'm not surprised that only two of the finalists are from Ireland. Three from Northern Ireland, and one from Latvia. Yay!! :w00t: :w00t:
February 14, 200916 yr Author Yay!! :w00t: :w00t: Hehe. If any of them get through, lets hope they can do as well as Mickey Harte. ^_^ EDIT: Okay, he was from Donegal, but that's close to NI! :P There was an article in the paper today about the six finalists: RTE strikes a new note in bid for Eurovision By Jason O'Brien Saturday February 14 2009 HAVING failed to entice back the big names, RTE is turning to a group of relative unknowns to rescue its tainted Eurovision reputation. Former winners Johnny Logan and Paul Harrington were among those approached to sing in Moscow in May after the decision to enter Dustin the Turkey backfired spectacularly last year. But with all politely declining the invite, RTE has been forced to run another Eurosong competition to find an entrant. And the list of six finalists revealed yesterday is less a 'Who's Who?' of Irish showbiz than a 'Who's That?' Indeed, despite the fact that the winning song will represent Ireland in a European competition, one of the entries was written by an American. Two of the entries were penned by Latvian songwriters, and perhaps only Niall Mooney's name will ring any bells for Irish Eurovision fans. Among the performers who will take to the stage during a special Late Late Eurosong special next Friday is Lee Bradshaw who will perform 'So What'. Mr Bradshaw "may be familiar to viewers as a waiter in the RTE TV series 'The Restaurant'," said an RTE spokeswoman. And Sinead Mulvey, who will perform 'Et Cetera', is a former 'You're A Star' finalist. Jury It is understood that Tara Blaise, one of the nominees for Best Irish Female Artist in this year's Meteor awards, entered the competition but her song was not selected by the jury. And Boyzone's Ronan Keating wrote the song that will be the Danish entry to this year's Eurovision. The final decision on Ireland's entry will be decided by a jury vote and a public televote. RTE said yesterday that over 300 entries were received for Eurosong, with Derry O'Donovan's 'Out of Control' among those to make the final six. "The song 'Out of Control', has a very distinct ethnic, tribal flair, with a fusion of haunting Celtic and eastern influence, he said." Edited February 14, 200916 yr by Cal
February 14, 200916 yr Author This was rejected... ZYCAYPDhxz8 I don't think RTÉ actually listen to all of the songs...
February 14, 200916 yr They did seem to cut down the shortlist from hundreds to six in about two days...
February 14, 200916 yr Here's a video of Kristina Zaharova singing, it's not the song in contention to represent Ireland though (as they were all taken down) q2CGSB12vC8 Wow, she has a really great voice! :D Here's her myspace too: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...endid=426893967 It has some more of her songs Edited February 14, 200916 yr by Sabrewulf238
February 14, 200916 yr Author She's a great singer. I just hope the rest of them are too. I find it hard to believe RTÉ seriously listened to 300 entries in three days...
