February 19, 200916 yr If anyone can listen to this, the Irish songs will be played at 3:00PM UK time on http://www.rte.ie/radio/liveplayer_av.html...dio/radio1.smil I've read a bit about them - it seems to be a very rock-based NF :(
February 19, 200916 yr Author They've just announced that it can't be played over the internet for copyright reasons. So I'm listening to it on the radio, and it's playing Russia 2008. :puke2:
February 19, 200916 yr Author Sorry for spamming, but song number 2 is  We still have to listen to the other 4 songs, but “Out of Control” performed by Laura-Jayne Hunter is AMAZE. It's Irish with some Turkish madness. :P
February 19, 200916 yr Author Lol. Okie doke! :D I'll rate them. First being the best, last being the worst etc. “Out of Control” performed by Laura-Jayne Hunter - This starts off quite Eimear Quinn 'The Voice', then goes upbeat with a Celtic and Turkish style. I'm voting for this tomorrow night. I want this one!!! ^_^ “So What” performed by Lee Bradshaw - He is quite well known here. The song is a ballad. It's quite catchy and if you are into men, then he'll be eye candy. :P If this got picked, I'd be happy with it. “I Wish I Could Pretend” performed by Kristina Zaharova - Very nice ballad! It's quite strong. Again, I'd be happy if this got picked. “Et Cetera” performed by Sinead Mulvey & Black Daisy - Sinead has a great voice, but it's too teen-like for my liking. It just throws you into an edgy High School Musical. It wouldn't get past the semi, whilst the three above would. “Amazing” performed by Johnny Brady - I hope this fails because it is dire. It's slightly flamenco-y and it's just bad bad bad. “Flying” performed by M.N.A - This is a good song, but it's not suited for Eurovision at all. It's upbeat and rocky, but that's about it. It doesn't have anything in it which would make people vote for it. I really hope “Out of Control” performed by Laura-Jayne Hunter gets through because it's very strong and catchy. :yahoo:
February 19, 200916 yr Just finished listening to a replay of the show........ugh most of the songs sound like they came straight out of the 80's! :puke2: If Laura Jayne-Hunter doesn't win with out of control it'll be an absolute Travesty as it's something really different then what we usually send.
February 19, 200916 yr Author Here is a YT vid with all 6 songs Jerry Springer is now confirmed for the Eurosong panel. :P Edited February 19, 200916 yr by Cal
February 19, 200916 yr Oh gosh I so want Song 2 - Out of Control to win!!! But we'll probably end up with Lee Brashaw or Johnny. :nocheer: I think I'll vote song 2 about 10 times edit: Actually now that I think about Kristina will probably win because she's Latvian Edited February 19, 200916 yr by Sabrewulf238
February 19, 200916 yr Author Me too. I have a lot of credit on my phone, so it'll be a lot of texting in :P I can't stand Linda Martin. She has the worst taste in music. She'll fall in love with Johnny and hate Laura-Jayne because she's different. Kristina could do well tomorrow. But it's 50/50 jury/televote, so it will be hard to call. If Kristina did get picked, we'd secure a nice 12 from Latvia in the semi. ^_^ Edited February 19, 200916 yr by Cal
February 19, 200916 yr I hope the juries give Laura a chance, it's so catchy and different. I don't want to see Ireland send another boring ballad again. :( Edited February 19, 200916 yr by Sabrewulf238
February 19, 200916 yr Hmmm, I'm torn. I love Laura's song but the production isn't that great. Johnny's song is unlike anything Ireland have ever entered, and unless Spain choose Melody (sin Vivancos, which were the only reason to watch in the first place) there probably there won't be much latin music in the contest this year... Quite like Sinead Mulvey, but it's not a Eurovision song. Kristina would probably be the most successful of them all in the contest though.... hmmm...
February 20, 200916 yr I'm backing Out of Control or Sinead to win. I disagree with those saying Et Cetera isn't suited to Eurovision! It is much more so than most of the other entries - quite Miley Cyrus-ish. The production values on the entries aren't that great but hopefully whatever is chosen will be revamped before the contest itself. So What is a nice enough ballad, but we're heading for a ballad overload this year so I'd rather not have that chosen - that said it probably will be. The Latvian one is boring, Flying is dated and Johnny's one is just very very bad. I can see So What winning tonight. For those who have seen the Late Late Show, the stage is extremely tiny, so I'm pretty sure they won't be able to get the best out of Out Of Control or Et Cetera as far as stage presentation goes. That won't matter that much for the ballad, and the audience demographic who watch the show will be more inclined to go for a ballad. Ireland's core Eurovision fanbase is very much of the older generation.
February 20, 200916 yr I'm pretty sure it will be a ballad. But never forget the baffling Lithuanian diaspora (why Lithuanians? why Ireland?)
February 20, 200916 yr Author I don't think I've wanted a certain song so bad. :P Those juries better give Laura high points. -_-
February 20, 200916 yr I don't think I've wanted a certain song so bad. :P Those juries better give Laura high points. -_- The juries are made up of music professionals and Eurovision fans, so I think they'll like Laura as long as the performance is good.
February 20, 200916 yr They're kind of oldschool though. I'm quite sure it will be Lee or Kristina. Something to look at, or something to listen to...
