The 1990 UK indie dance trio featuring Sarah Cracknell returned with this rather fine effort that sadly failed to break into the Top 75.

Another electronic UK indie dance track makes my countdown. Sadly this track failed to trouble the UK Top 75 despite airplay.

One of many songs I only heard via Mark Radcliffe's & Stuart MaConie's Radio 2 show. This country folk song is performed by a British singer songwriter with a rather hypnotic almost feminine voice.

The first song on my countdown which actually made the charts. Not the last time either act is featured on this countdown.

This Canadian duo made this curio record that quite literally got through to the back of my head.

The MTV award winning second single taken from her best album to date Blackout for the new Queen of Pop. Well if Hard Candy is not Madonna's abdication, I don't know what is!

 

117 Yazoo - Don't Go (Reconnected 2008) (5wks 5-4-5-15-29)

 

 

The legendary UK synth pop duo from the early 1980s of Vince Clarke & Alison Moyet reunited to tour to the delight of 30 somethings this year for the first time since splitting in 1983.

116 PNAU - Baby (7wks 21-13-7-6-13-24-37)

 

 

The Australian dance act scored a sizeable hit down under with this endearing electronic fun track & colourful video featuring children singing badly.

 

115 Morrissey - All You Need Is Me (6wks 8-7-7-7-13-32)

 

 

The Mozfather's second of two singles taken from his Greatest Hits album released early this year.

114 Neon Neon - Dream Cars (7wks 25-16-14-13-9-13*)

 

 

The third single taken from the Mercury Award nominated album Stainless Style for Super Furry Animals Gruff Rhys side project.

This surprisingly good come back single from Johhny Borrell and co has a real like hymn like quality to it taking it to the UK Top 5.

Another song from the beginning of the year. A genuine case of the Freemasons taking this song onto a higher level than the original r'n'b track by the ex Destiny Child.

111 Christian Falk ft Robyn - Dream On (7wks 40-34-29-7-6-10-22)

 

 

Even now I find it hard to believe this Swedish track only reached UK#29, when it sounded like a Top 10 hit to my ears.

110 Fleet Foxes - He Doesn't Know Why (9wks 33-28-24-21-19-17-15-22-33)

 

 

Taken from one of the albums of the year in music critics circles. This choral uplifting track full of harmonies is not the last track by this US act on my countdown.

When I look at the UK singles chart and look at some of the rubbish Urban tracks that reached the chart I'm amazed this US hit (think Rihanna with singing lessons) never did a thing in the UK.

This Liam Gallagher penned track is a tribute to his hero John Lennon featuring his vocals sampled on this record.

The thought of the rapper from Black Eyed Peas making a record with my least favourite member of Girls Aloud & me really liking it wwere about as likely as someone saying in 2007 that the next artist would have a UK #1 hit....
