December 27, 200816 yr celeb deaths not world news? eh? Why on earth is this item in Retro?????? ive never seen eartha kitt mentioned on here until she died... hardly a popular artiste is she?.. but that doesnt detract from the work shes done... as there was another thread on her in retro and for the life of me i cant see why she would qualify for 'perspectives' , i moved and merged both threads. she is a retro artiste and can be discussed here just as adiquately but more fittingly in retro. well until you know who comes along and spam posts some nonsense that no one else understands and consequently kills the thread <_<
December 27, 200816 yr Portishead in Retro? ANY of them in Retro? Grow up, Rob..... why not?.... well i guess that depends upon exactly what is being discussed, modern/new material then no... but older material then certainly.
December 30, 200816 yr Author Rob... Portishead and Grace Jones released 2 of the finest, most daring and leftfield albums of 2008 - to even think of placing these in Retro is at best insulting. Retro is for bygone acts.... acts no longer recording, music since passed...not for acts who happen to be past 40 who are still making groundbreaking music (see also Costello, Bush, Moyet, Harvey, Almond and Cave).

(however please note as the original request pre-culture box, pre-music culture, pre-specialist was for a general music area that would be for the type of threads that brian91 does that sometimes goes outside the retro area...maybe it would have been better to give brian91 the mod job with the general music area in the first place and left me out of trying to deal with all the clueless halfwits who think all those specialist genres is the same as guitar-pop) http://content9.flixster.com/photo/35/74/40/3574407_tml.jpg ...and its quite scarey to think that the joker died at the beginning of 2008 and the catwoman at the end...
