The Loving Kind is their 20th single and it's not doing as well as we hoped SO FAR.

But actually, wouldn't it be a good thing if the single missed the top10 ?

Wouldn't it make their management more free to release more materiel and stuff ?

The point of this thread is not to predict if it will miss it or not (we will know in a few weeks now), but to discuss the positive and negative sides of a single missing the top10.

This is what comes to my mind :

The good points of TLK missing the top10:

* Their management wouldn't be afraid to release 2 or 3 more singles from this album, they would focus on the album's promotion and not only the top10 record.

* GA have never been that successful and the country loves them more than even before (huge album sales, biggest arena tour ever for them, etc), so does it really matter if the single misses the top10 ?! :P

* It would put an end to the whole "St Trinians" debate ! ^_^

* The Girls could feel free to release more "experiemental" material a la "Swinging london town" or "Untouchable", and could please a lot of new fans !

The bad points :

* The Loving Kind is a great song and deserves to get top10 !

* It would stop their reccord for the most consecutive top10 hits (but wouldn't break it, they would still hold the reccord).

* Their management wouldn't want to involve other producers again after this experience. -_-

* If it's a big flop, they don't stand a chance to perform it with PSB at the Brits. :(

* Their management may aswell decide to stop to promote this era and release no more single. :o

* It would be silly to stop their record with the 20th single, it is nicer to put "20 consecutive top10 hits" than "19 consecutive top10 hits"

* Their management could put less money in the TV promotion and in the videos from now on (very unlikely considering the album success).

Let's debate it ! :cheer:

I shall nul vote, it will be a good thing for all the things you mention and after all it wont really matter since a lot of major acts are only having 1 sucsessful single from each era and the album and the lead single are doing amazingly well so it wont matter but on the other hand Loving Kind is in my top 5 GA songs of all time and it will be a travesty if it misses the top 10.

it would be good in a way to stop us all focussing on the top 10 record. It's broken, and it's highly unlikely to be matched again now.

THe bad side, is all the negative press, that would come as a result, like OMGZ GA da flopz! etc etc.

i dont think if it missed the top 10 they would get bad press as when take that made number 17 with id wait for life the press said nothing,i would hate it tii miss the top 10 especially as the follow up to a huge number 1 and the album so successful it would be lovely for the whole out of control era to do well
It WILL NOT miss the top 10, I can be certain! C'MON THIS IS GIRLS ALOUD WHERE TAKIN ABOUT!!
I have a feeling this wont do that well. Its a very weak follow-up to the promise. Heard their album for first time today and wasnt dead impressed. alot of the tracks sound the same. Prefer the last album, tangled up.

I want this to go top 10 because it is their 20th but i would also like them to release a song that goes maybe top 15 just to show that the top ten thing has gone far enough now.

No girl group will ever break their record now anyway as the whole chart thing is messed up with downloads now.

Management CANNOT not release a 3rd single from ooc because they are scard it wont go top 10. That needs to stop right now. Singles as a rule sell albums.

a third single will work and go top 10 if it has a hyped up b side or a brand new track for fans, girls aloud are good phyisical sellers and thats there best chance of getting more top 10 singles of the album

i can see this album getting a deluxe version release and not one that costs more like the current one maybe have a new song on that and have that as the third single would ensure a hit and push album sales i really think this is their best chance for a studio album to sell a milllion

I doubt very much they will do a deluxe because any new material is gona be going into album 7.

OMG i cant believe how that sounded, album 7 :D

i want them to score another top10 and with their surge in popularity right now, i don't want TLK to put a black mark on this campaign, it would be sort of ironic  that said, its not the end of the world if it did, and multiple top 10s from 1 album are becoming harder and harder for sure. I think the third OOC single will def struggle for top 10 (and i don't think a possible top10 record would prevent the record company releasing one, they care about sales far more )

Why is everyone so upset about this? Girls Aloud have had all of their singles go top 10, so did the Spice Girls with "Stop" (I know people get bored of Girls Aloud being linked to the Spice Girls, but hey) and after "Stop" their singles went to number one again apart from "Headlines" but that's totally different. So the girls may also go back to getting top 10 hits in a row again. It's just one of their singles.....

(don't shoot me)

I think it would be a bad thing because this song is one of their best ever and it would also break their record of consecutive Top 10 hits. But, it will make the Top 10. Everyone just buy a few copies of the CD and download it a lot! :P

Give me one good reason why i shoudnt

You must have a lot of money to waste then :D

Bad news.

It's their best single and I feel this should be #1. I dont know how "The Promise" made #1, because it's so cheap! I think thanks to Mr Cowell it got a helping hand.

"Out of Control" is a great album, but it was a big mistake releasing the weakest track off there as the lead single.

20 Top 10 singles sounds soooooo good. It must happen  Someone pay for a download site for me so I can download it legally -_-

I hardly think selling 600,000 albums more or less on the back of one single was a big mistake was it?
